26/10/2014 I’m back :-)

26/10/201413

Yes, that’s right after a short interlude (let’s call it two months) out of the water, I got to experience once again Cabbage Tree Bay and all it’s beauty -that’s you lot! The Bold & Beautiful swim group!

My first photo of the day, of a beautiful flower which greeted me as I checked out the surf conditions after reading on yesterday’s blog.

The surf didn’t look too bad, but don’t be fooled by the waves. Make sure as you are getting ready at 6.55, you keep an eye on those sets.

Here’s Wendy, who was my first ‘hello and welcome back in the water’ today. Of my question about the water temp, Wendy told me ‘it was cold during the week’ and confessed to never swimming without her wetsuit.

Then a few obliging people, posing to get on the blog! Hope you had a great swim, and us bloggers love people who are keen to be photographed. Don’t be shy, there’s enough room in the blog for everyone.

The 7am’s watch the 6.30ers return

Nice long walk out today, through the waves.

Jane watches the waves in front, whilst one wave that cannot be mistaken is from Lips.

These guys wanted ‘a blog appearance’ ….hmm, and the next couple of photos demonstrate how Lips ‘appeared’ in all of them.

Probably easier to take silhouette photos and we can just guess at who is who. Our group was spread wide and long today, taking about 5 mins from the first person in the water to the last down the ramp.

At Shelly beach, the sun shines on the incoming crowd.

The next couple of photos are taken of people, as they take their last stroke before stopping and joining in the chatter at the beach.

Then there’s always a sea monster in the mix!

The crowds were massive today, we welcomed 15 new people also.

We’re off …..

Slightly murky, but two decent wobbygong so were quite active swimming around below us. Both had beautiful markings and one lying just one sand, was even hard to spot!

A lovely swim, an enjoyable return back to what I enjoy most, the laughter, the fun, the sea life, the sun and the understanding that no two days are the same in the bay. Enjoy your Sunday.

Special Event – Guest Speakers!
The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 11th November at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Cafe and will be our last for the year. Our special guest speakers this month will be two of our most knowledgeable swimmers, Dr Rainer Noack and Professor Nick Dawkins, who will provide a follow up presentation to their previous dissertation on swimming etiquette, titled:

“How to get ahead in the B&B”.

The learned gentlemen have assured us that the content will be both informative and amusing. Don’t miss out on this important event – book early!
To mark this occasion, we have a new and improved menu with more choices. The cost has increased slightly to $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. This is still outstanding value. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. BOULDERDASH – Starts on 27th October
The Boulderdash will start officially on Monday 27th October and will run every day until the end of Summer. The start time is just before 6 am at Manly Surf Club, and the route goes from Manly to Queenscliff and back (3 km total). You should be back at the Club just in time for the 7 am Shelly swim. If you are intending to do the Boulderdash, can yo
u please swim with the group at the correct starting time (random swims during the day do not count). The main aim of the Bold and Beautiful is to provide a fun group activity, so we request that the “regulars” please welcome any new swimmers who wish to try the Boulderdash for the first time. They will feel much more at ease if they are swimming as part of a group.

Lovely blog. I especially liked the pics of the arrivals at Shelly. What a coup getting a pic of LSA not blog tarting but swimming!! Is that a first? And is that John Lehman succesfully reaching Shelly. I heard he did the crossing with the Zen Zedder. Look out John – we might claim you as one of our own in Team Omega! You would be joining a very special bunch if we did!

Snorkles…… guessing the wisdom tooth is better now !
Good to see Jane back ! Bet this gives Janes son-in-law Al Del Bene lots of good material for his stand-up comedy.
    Cheers

Oh Snorks, I didn’t realise you’d been out of the (B&B) surf almost as long as us…. so glad you’re better and back in great blogging form as usual:-))
Look forward to seeing you again soon!

I knew it would take a lot more than an out-of-action arm, sore ribs and a rubber ducky rescue to keep our Jane away!

Yes, in spite of rumours that I never swim but just spend my life blog tarting, I have been known to make the Great Crossing:-)

Another welcome back face is our lovely Sparkles – poor thing hasn’t been able to swim because of a broken arm, but came down for a cuppa and chat yesterday. She must be spitting tacks – when she broke her arm she was TWO swims short of her 1000km badge!

Don’t you think the sea monster bears a startling resemblance to Derek?
