You can count …….on the beauty

Yesterday, someone who lives dangerously close to me was waxing lyrical, as he does, about this and that,  when he said something interesting. He commented “it is amazing that rain or shine, cold or warm you can always count on the B&B. There are so many things we can’t count on anymore. But arrive at Manly don a pink cap and you will find someone is always there to swim with, have a laugh or a chat.”  It made me think about what you can and can’t count on these days.

So I think you can’t count on …….

1. having the same Prime Minister today as you did yesterday
2. eating a strawberry – as an ‘all ages’ activity 
3. that house prices will go up forever
4. that your job will exist in 5 or 10 years
5. interest rates will stay low forever
6. that the US President won’t make the UN laugh 
7. that grammar will continue to used in the art of writing
8. the temperature being this or that at this time of the year
9. the Duskies – where the hell are they ?
10. that lists will be interesting

You can count on ……Drinkie to be a fearless leader or pose like one !!

Things you can count on

1. the Bold and the Beautiful will swim at 7.00am, 365 Days a year
2. the Drink Express will swim at 6.35am 365 Days a year
3. Cabbage Tree Bay will be beautiful and different, 365 Days a year
4. there will be people SMILING at the B&B every day, week in, week out, year in year out 
5. Roger will make you laugh by saying something ironic, insightful, sarcastic, amusing or a bit nutty
6. Ian & John or Ian or John will be there to greet you with a smile, a nod or an eye roll, day dependent
7. that the traffic will be eerily quiet on a Friday morning 
8. there will be a lot to say about the water temperature, clarity, waves or otherwise blather about swim styles or ailments
9. you will pay tax
   
10. that I will swim in the B&B, with the Manly Express, until the day I am done [and being done, is something we can all count on 🙂

Today was a surprisingly lovely swim, water, the skies are gray, moody and the rain came down. It was beautiful and the water temperature is on the way up. You can count on the weather to change and change again, Jenny commented “felt like 15 on the way in and 22 on the way out’…. ain’t it true, you can count on Jen for wise words.

Monthly Dinner – 9^th October – With our own Radio Show Hostess..

The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 9th October at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant, and will feature a very different format than normal. Our guest on the night will be one of our swimmers, Karen Sander, who is the creator of the radio program Ageing Fearlessly. Karen will host a Parkinson style show where she will interview three guests. The identity of the guests is being kept under wraps and will only be revealed at the dinner. The one thing that she will let you know is the guests fall into the following categories:

1. A household name
2. A mystery guest
3. A Bold and Beautiful Immortal

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option).
