This blog has been clobbered together as scheduled blogger Lips is indisposed. Photographic evidence was provided by team sleuth Lesley.
Well Lips, this is what you missed today. . .
The very best thing about today’s swim – well apart from catching up with all the fabulous B&B mob – was the complete absence of jimbles!!
Clear water, calm conditions – what more could you ask for?
It was a Blue Groper day across the bay! Many of you saw them around Shelly and the point.
And my first sighting for this year of the Port Jacksons keeping a very low profile off the point.
Now an explanation about the following photos from Blogger Roger. . .
What’s the Frequency, Kenneth
It’s now five international Games in ten years for Ken Murphy, and this year’s massive event was held in Fairfax, NY USA. He’s happily travelled the world for the World Police & Fire Games – and this time returns with seven medals; two gold, four silver and one bronze. Kenny raced ten events, nine in the pool … and then his favourite – the two-mile open water race (in a lake).
Ken races 50s and over, and came third out of 129 entrants. (That’s right; behind the ever-present jocularity, Ken is a passionate swimmer, dedicated and fast.) He is also part of the infamous Leprechauns Relay Team (Our B&B Aussie; two Irish and an American), which has become notoriously unbeatable. The other three are visiting this summer, and will race a couple of Sydney ocean swims, while staying with Ken’s family. They are already targeting the next Games – in South America 2017.

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. This is a late reply 24 hours after Friday:
“Jen said in reply to Kerry…
Kerry – I picked up your wetsuit yesterday around midday when I was swimming (left next to bin – thought it was rubbish!) – have rinsed & air-dried and will return to you. I was going to post on this blog last night but forgot – sorry!! let me know best way to return it.”

Wetsuit Two:
Did anyone pick up Errol Abbott’s wetsuit yesterday? Standard neoprene-black, long-limbed … and reasonably well-used. If so, please give to Errol, Justus or me

Don’t know who they are. I kind of surprised them off the point on the way back.
Turned out to be useful in light of the absence of Lips. . .

Really lovely swim. I saw the car tyre embedded in the sand again off the point today. Dom, you should have brought your camera!

I like the new look of the website. It is so excellent to have attendance – even though some people don’t sign on? – pacific ladder and blog. We are so lucky. I enjoy the blogs and photos almost as much as the swims!

Thanks for stepping in last minute Mary! Great job! Water looked amazing!
Lips’ blames me for his ‘flu’ but man flu not to be confused with cat flu which is what i had.
Man flu symptoms include hallucinations: believing you are way worse than you really are, extreme self pity, sudden inability to help around the house…
Cat flu ; prefer yr own company, sudden fear of dogs, curling in a ball and temporary extreme flexibility leading to licking yr own bottom…

LOL! Those symptoms are spot on. For both of us.

Great work Mary. Stunning photos. Thanks for filling in on such short notice.
Now, my hot water bottle needs reheating. And while you’re at it, a herbal tea would be nice.

Great blog, lovely swim today. Thanks so much to Shaun for showing Dad around the Manly club. You made an older gent very happy. He was able to reminisce his days as a young lifesaver from Wollognong coming up the the big smoke in the 1950’s and competing in the State SLSC Champs. Xx

yes it was me – Alanna! I only realised today when I put Errols wettie on this morning and it had foot stirrups (I did briefly wonder how come I never noticed the foot stirrups before) and then it was too big! (same brand). We have swapped back now and Errol has his right wettie. Case of mistaken garbage bags with wet wetsuits in.
