26/02/13 – Picture postcard

26/02/201324

The beauty of
the beach greeting this morning’s 75 B&B swimmers was just like a postcard.

Amid the gathering there is space for quiet contemplation before heading into the surf.  The swell is more friendly today so everyone headed into the surf.

Meeting up with the early lappers provides a more detailed ‘condition’ report!  General relief as it is pronounced all clear!

The crossing to Shelly was a beautiful swim. Just gentle
swell out at the point, some interesting changes in temperature – those cold
patches really woke you up – and a few lumps of weed.

At Shelly you could feel the love.

Elaine provided us with a very gutsy celeb ‘let’s go’!

Visibility is too cloudy to find any marine creatures. . . so no fish photos today.

So if you didn’t make it today you missed a great day AND chocolate cake courtesy of Danni!

Welcome back to Ed!  He has done the boomerang thing and is back from the UK.

Now is this further evidence of corruption within the ranks, or just helping out a mate paying for breakfast?

Lost and found

Are you missing your favourite goggles and cap?  If these look familiar to you – see Lesley in the next couple of days.

For the diary . . .

Only 2 more days for a Boulderdash!!  Yes folks, all done and dusted at the end of the month (which is Thursday. . .)

2nd March is the absolutely last chance to pick
up a 6km or a 10km summer badge!  Due to
the interesting weather last weekend, Mr Bond has kindly extended summer by
just a couple of days.

Tonight is the
Cinema groups night out in Manly cinema – Please see Izzy for further details,
I believe they are going to watch The
Impossible
–should be a great night out!

Also, Tuesday 5th
March is the next Bluewater dinner and then every 1st Tuesday of the month.
Great value at just $20 for two courses and $5 drinks. To register your
attendance follow the link Bluewater
Monthly Dinner

One of our fellow
B&B’ers, Sebastian Terry is running an event in aid of Camp Quality next
month. It’s the “100 Things” (Check out www.100things.com.au) Documentary Premiere
on 8th March at The Steyne Hotel. Ticket price includes 4 x free
drinks, free food, free raffle entry and global premiere of documentary which
will be on the Discovery channel. Cost: $50 with 100% of money going to camp
Quality! Tickets and info available at http://events.ticketbooth.com.au/event/Premiere

Staying safe

NEW water safety tips!!!  Michael’s tips remain valid but this updated guide is courtesy of champion Ironman Craig ‘Riddo’
Riddington.  He has put this RIP/ Surf
swim education document together for the B&B and it’s a good read.  To read and even download click here.

Catch you next Tuesday!

Mary

Thanks for giving us the “all clear”, Drinky Boy. Always someone who cops a Bluey even on an “All clear” day, however….
Yes, price for badges going up every day. The Whale badge now costs a year’s supply of breakfasts. Discounts for those like Izzy & Jane who keep me company in the water:-))

A free breakfast for anyone who’ll swim by my side for the last boulderdash on Thursday! Storchy? Let’s make it a ‘full-house’ party send-off for the season!

007: if the conditions aren’t amazeballs this Saturday, do you think we could create an exclusive Autumn 10km Badge and do it the following weekend?! Scandalo…!!

Honest, LSA and I were just looking at the pictures on the banknotes from a historical point of view. Izzy, as an expert historian, was giving advice.

I’m in, I think! At least possibly if Pretty Leslie, Nurse J, Fi or DWSS is also swimming?
And if the weather is OK and waves not too big,
No jimbles, blueys or other stingy/bitey marine creatures.
If HKTQ can sort that then I’m a definite…..maybe.
    I’ll check with mum.

    Jane & Izzy
I hold you two up as the essence of integrity. Don’t go to the dark side!
Swim to the light…away from HKTQ!

Yes, did you know that Banjo Patterson’s Man from Snowy River is written in microprint on our tenner as a security device? Very historically important. And a lovely thing to tell tourists from other lands.

What about anyone from the table of Wisdom?
Attracta can educate us on any marine life starting with “A”, while on our way.
Does this also put me into the category of pretty?
I have checked with your mum Mr S. She said you can go!!

Just checked with mum and she’s fine if you bring her to breakfast too! The girls are all coming and that means Shauny won’t be able to stay away:-)
As for the rest, will see if some friends in Beijing can shoot a few clouds in advance and clear the stingies out of our path:-)
I won’t have Lips to drag me along, so will rely on you and Robster to do the work!
