25/09/2011 – Fin Day Fun Day

September 25, 201118

41 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Jenny Knapman was very proud of herself this morning as the conditions apparently declared it as a ‘fin day’ 😉  Well that was until about one hour into her patrol when she certainly didn’t look so happy.  I reckon it was colder on patrol than swimming this morning.

About a third of us took the sensible option and went to and from half way beach which was very pleasant and a litte entertaining.

Anna Alvsdotter swam out from the beach, when just past the point she bumped into something firm.  Anna thought it couldn’t be a jellyfish so looked underwater to find a dead Magpie 🙁  not one of the most pleasant things we get to see on our swims, hence the reason she was so happy to accompany us back to the delightful waters of half way beach.

It seems that was were a couple
of ‘swimmers’ who had a change of heart and decided to supervise this morning… 😉

Sandy McIndoe was providing some healthy competition for the crazy hair award this morning too 😉

Our trivia night is filling up fast, but there are still a couple of seats available, so if you would like to join in the fun on Wednesday 26th October please let me know asap.  To check out the competition please click here.

Tim’s fact of the day: “By swallowing water, the Pufferfish becomes too big for other fish to swallow.”

Many of you may remember the tragic incident up at Surf Life Saving National Championships 2010, where young ironman Saxon Bird tragically lost his life. For anyone who is interested, Channel 7, Sunday Night Program, after the news is running a story on this terribly unfortunate incident this evening.

Water Temperature 17.8 degrees.
Air Temperature 16 degrees.
Sunrise 5.41am.
Sunset 5.53pm.
High Tide: 6.08am.
Low Tide: 12.00pm.

To those who Linda has not been able to contact….
Bare foot Bowls is OFF 🙁
It’s Still raining and Linda specifically ordered Sunshine today!
Lin and I and a few others are going to the 4 pines @ 1pm instead if we don’t get washed away by a flood of water in the meantime.
The 4 pines serve the best beer in Manly and I believe they do a $20 Sunday Roast.
Anyone is welcome to join us – Come on, what else are you going to do on a day like this?
Tim, (Age 36 and 364 days young)

Anna, this one is specially for you. They are much better than some Sydney audiences I have known, and not a mobile phone within earshot – or wait a minute, what is that tinkling sound I can hear?
