Mystery musical celebrities taking up residence on Manly Beach
(More about this further down in the blog)
This stunner of a summer’s morning saw as many as 214 pink swimmers including 12 newbies and 16 Bolderdashers. What a great warm-up for tomorrow’s Australia Day swim. If you plan to introduce friends and family to B&B tomorrow, please arrive really early so there’s enough time to check in and welcome the new swimmers.
Also, please remember to stay with your newbies and look after them. It’s the B&B way 🙂 And it would be great if our regular swimmers try and stay at the back of the pack a little to help herd the herd.

I love this group of people. Sorry, am I repeating myself again..?
Ok, I’ll give you another example of the goodness residing within. This morning, the smart, funny and very hot Lesley Coulter, aka Lesbutt, noticed I was juggling the fins, cap and goggles while keeping up a two-decade long daily motivational speech with a person very dear to me who needs a bit of extra looking after by me in the ocean. As the blog camera was slipping further down my cozzie threatening to execute a proper boob flash in every sense of the word, Lesley calmly said “Would you like me to take today’s photos for you Anna?”
So to my delight, I am having a Life is Like a Box of Chocolate moment, blogging mostly with photos taken by someone else. You never know what ya gonna get. And look at the fantastic shots!

Waiting off the point is so relaxing. And the water today was supplied by a local health and wellness spa. Divine.

The daily Dawn B&B Big Day Out at Shelly Beach was going OFF. What’s new?

On the surface, Heidi may appear to take things very light heartedly. This morning she was appointed crowd controller at Shelly Beach.

Let’s gooo! (Job well done, Heidi)

Lesley captured just how clear and aquarium-like the Cabbage Tree Bay Reserve was this morning.

And so did Stephen Coulter (no, they’re not related). With his top quality underwater camera he captured a beautiful flathead.

And some rays.

And some gorgeous but as yet unlabelled species. Jane, perhaps we could get your Marine specialist at the Australian Museum to classify these fabulous creatures for us? I’m guessing the first one is an Ann Cameronius Smileunderwaterii, but not sure.

The B&B people we are a social lot…

… so it will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that there is a cinema subgroup that calls itself the Triple M’s Manly Movie Mob. Here’s a message from its organiser Isobel Kirk, aka Izzy, aka Iz.
“Looks like it’s Django Unchained by Tarantino for us next Tuesday, 29th of January. It’s on at 5.45pm – bit early but they haven’t got anything we would like at the later sessions and I know we have to get home and go to sleep by 9.30pm so we can swim!
If you would like to meet at 4 pines for a beer before let me know and we can stick it out there. Otherwise, a wine and pizza or something at the Wharf bar after the flick?
Lots of love
Izzzzz”
On the same date, the Bluewater Cafe is hosting our monthly B&B dinner.

Neither would it surprise anyone if the B&B swimmers also had a musical subgroup.

Here’s a message for all you keen but not necessarily capable singers, triangle players and xylofonists.
“Greg and I are forming a Bold and Beautiful music group and we wanted to put a call out to all budding singers, instrument players and percussionists. In the spirit of Bold and Beautiful it is not
necessary for a member to be accomplished in their talent – just keen.
We welcome any and all who love music and would be interested in meeting regularly to jam, sing, laugh and play. Can you please post the “call for budding talent” on the blog and ask anyone who is interested to write to boldandbeautifulmusic@gmail.com or they can come and talk to Greg or me.
Thanks 🙂 Krystyna”
Apparently you can come to rehearsals dressed down and very casual.

And allow me to repeat here a message from Chris Noone which he posted in yesterday’s blog comment field.
“You may have seen me coaxing some kids out through the break over the past few weeks. They are part of Team Aidan which includes 20 kids aged between 9 and 12 who will swim the 1 km Cole Classic on 3 February. Team Aidan raises money for The Kids Cancer Project the largest funder of research into childhood cancer. http://www.thekidscancerproject.org.au/
Team Aidan will be swimming with B&B on Australia Day as a warm up for the big event. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts, please click here for the team webpage. http://www.everydayhero.com.au/team_aidan_2013“

Mates. Have a super wonderful, friendly and peaceful Australia Day, celebrating all that is Strayan including fast food delicacies on the barbie, beer, inflated flotation devises in the shape of flip flops, classy rub-on flag tattoos and cultural diversity in general.
Over and out from Girl Friday blogger Anna. She’ll be right, mate. Good on ya. Chuck a sickie.

There will be a 6km Summer Badge swim tomorrow after the Australia Day swim to Shelly.
Everyone wanting to do it should meet at the point on the way back as usual and tread water until I get there. Then we will set off on a route to be selected depending on conditions and where I want to go.
We won’t be going to Freshie though because of the carnival there tomorrow.
6kms before breakfast guys. It doesn’t get any better than that. Lets make it a big one.

Girl Friday and Lesbutt, you certainly are a Dynamic Duo. Well done on the great teamwork and great blogging.
Well done to all the B&B’ers who have stepped up and are filling in all of the roles previously performed by our fearless leader, the one and only Jules! A team of 20 is only just enough. How did she do it all?
Think we may need to have a group shout of the “Let’s Go” tomorrow in tribute………

May I ask who is updating the spreadsheet for the 10km swims, and does the 10km that Jules, Brenton, Sam and I swam on Saturday 12th Jan with Michael count in the spreadsheet, and if it doesn’t, who are we supposed to pay to get our kms on that list because no-one has come forward with details yet, except John B has been interviewing for recruits for February 23rd 10km swim, so maybe it is him we have to pay, but don’t worry John I am planning to swim again on 23 February anyway.

All PC bribes have to be paid in cash and directly to HKTQ or one of her accredited henchmen. Happy to discuss further details discretely at tomorrow’s swim. I will meet you at the point around 7:05am. I will wear a white rashie and will use a fake German accent. Code word ‘Sauerkraut’. Please come alone.

Hi Robin
I was away, but word has spread that the recent 6km swim you led was extremely challenging and that you’re a hard a task master, not letting anyone cut corners anywhere from Shelley to the point!
Integrity to the fore!!!!
Don’t be influenced by those with ulterior motives (HKTQ, HJ and Lips)….

My thoughts exactly, John. I blame Jim Stackpool. every time I promise to show up for the bolderdash I wake at 5 then reawaken at 7.10. Damn.
Speaking of Stacks, there are some nales missing from the Palm to Whale register…Stackpool, Denton…come on guys, you are the AWAY TEAM…
anybody else interested, please go to Oceanswims.com and sign up!! It should be grand fun.
Registrations close lunchtime tomorrow.

Thanks Sam your virtual presence will be welcome.
I wasn’t sure how I could do the 6 if both my swimming partners abandoned me. 🙁

Lips, we may have to consider Spreadie Plan Zwei so that we can more easily give points when people pay up late (with a penalty, of course!) or subtract them when they’ve been caught ticking for swims whilst sunbathing on the rocks with Storchy Boy aka RD or Shauny DW.
I think it’s time that LesButt was accredited – at least on days she wears her white rashie. She seems discreet and unfazed by all the pathetic attempts at flattery:) We’d better make a show of consulting Dear Leader Simon and Great Leader PJ too!

Yes SS I run a tight ship.
There was some discussion last week as to whether I was counting the laps properly as well. I do get confused occasionally but a couple of extra km never does any harm.

Those pics are wonderful Mauricio. And a Moray Eel! I’ve never seen one in Cabbage Tree Bay. Whereabouts was it? The lovely silver fish in the foreground are Southern Silver Drummers (Kyphosus sydneyanus). Trevally left background.

Hi Jane, I wasnt expecting much of todays dive as visibility wasnt very good, but hey a Eel, that was really good, very shy though, and the wobbegong had a nasty spear on its back, its the second fish I find with spears, they are both on the todays video as well:
http://youtu.be/xd0eeo732w0
Luckily I found the cuttlefish again but no signs of the baby one, will keep looking.
Have a great Australia Day.
