24/3/15 – Red in the Morning

24/03/201512

According to our friends at the BOM we are expecting significant storm activity this afternoon so it was fitting that the old adage of Red in Morning – Sailor take warning was probably right.

It was a warm morning on the beach with a 2-3 ft northeast swell and a light and warm 5-10 knot nor easter blowing. It created a clean, warm and no bities swim for 110 swimmers, 1 newbie and a glorious 23.5 degrees in the water.

Warm and clear before the sun.

And a low tide at 5.47.

Almost a walk to the point

Nicole and her sister with Terry trying to decide Wetsuit or no wetsuit.

7am kickoff

Traffic jam at South Steyne.

Our Go man, John asked me to make sure everyone is clear on what the “Point” is so here’s 1 perspective in case anyone was wondering.

And this one is where you can see the finish line but still see the clubhouse

And this one shows a lot of people drifting accidentally toward New Zealand

And another

Just in case anyone needs an easterly perspective for the location of the point.

A quiet affair this morning

Some careful B&B instruction on the application of the cap

This is Julia who is a multi year vetran with her brother Adam over from the UK. Adam has now swum every day he has been here.

And the long road back.

Ahhhh the places we have been.

Have a great day.

Cheers

Brian

Lovely pics. Really spectacular morning….amazing colours from 6.30 start onwards….even coming back with the 7.00ers, when the sun came out and the Bower houses lit up, amazing. Not to mention the fish!
Thanks to my great support team – Johnny S (who deserves a medal for swimming at my pace for the early swim), then faithful Lips and Derek!!

What a beautiful light show and swim this morning. Lovely blog Brian. There certainly was a huge spread of people before the ‘Let’s Go’ this morning!
