24/11/2013 – It’s a ‘B+B on tour (ish)’ photo – AKA “Did you see the dolphin?”

24/11/201315

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!

There were numerous sightings of a Dolphin this morning from Midge and Robin after 6am and the whole drinks express.

When we got to Shelly with the 7am mob there was only one thing being said, “Did you see the dolphin?” So Sophie, Nick & I jumped the gun and headed for the Bower where we were lucky enough to see a school of giant Kingfish (each >1200mm long) being chased by what must have been a Dolphin. Then on the surface we got a glimpse of the Dolphin. While Sophie and I headed for home Nick waited at the Bower were he was able to get some absolutely fanatastic shot of the Dolphin…they will appear shortly (approx 10am)….

Here they are folks..

Now back to the block that I posted at the record time of 6.19am…….

Hi Simon, Rusty here.

Hope you are good.

I’ve got a picture for the blog tomorrow. It’s a ‘B+B on tour (ish)’ photo. From Kangaroo Valley. Under the famous Hampton Bridge.

Hope you can sneak it in!

Cheers,

Rusty

Thanks Rusty does that mean we can move into your Dungowan digs while you are looking for Kangaroos?

It’s not until you actually come down and swim with the B&B that you start to get an inkling of what it is about. Yes the focus is on enjoying the swim in a very special part of the world 365 days a year!! But as any member of the B&B congregation will tell you the daily swim will lead you to many unexpected adventures and rewards.

But first a very important announcement:

===============================================================================================================================
B&B Attendance Login App
Summer starts next Sunday and the B&B sign-in queues are going to get a lot longer!! So to avoid the queues and save Ian et al a lot of  time you need to start logging your swims online!! In fact in the not too distant future the  B&B Attendance Login App may be the only way to log your swims!!
To get started, please send an email to Ian Forster [ iforster2@optusnet.com.au ] requesting to have your account activated.
=============================================================================================================================================

Why does the B&B generate such religious fervour? This is an excellent question that could take a PhD thesis to answer. So instead I will attempt to answer the question, Why did Rusty send me the above email? You’ll note Rusty called it a ‘B+B on tour (ish)’ photo so my search begins by checking out The B&B ‘On Tour’ gallery at:  http://www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-on-tour-gallery.html

Any early posting came from Sally in Vegas who was told by security guards that her regular B&B attire was not suitable for a casino.

Is Libby in Seine?

Sally @ Val Colorado

Peta with Zulu warrior

B&B Cougars in Bali

Rainer, Sally beat you to it. You’ll have to take your Brandenburg Gate shot again wearing only your cap and pink speedos!!

Pete and Sheri  – what were they thinking!

Chris with his little Prince George on Cote d’Azur

Michael @ Paris airport

Simon in ICU @RNS after shoulder surgery

I thought my ICU shot was pretty unique until I saw this shot of Michael while on “tour” in Afganistan. I think this shot c0nstitutes an unbeatable blog tart score.

Sometimes B&Bers actually compete in swimming races while on tour:

Here is Brendan after completing a Rottnest solo swim

Some of the Dardenelles Dirty Dozen (7/8/2011)  who went to the sacred site at ANZAC Cove because of B&B

Greg & Chris at the Waikiki Roughwater

B&B Team Maui after the 2012 Maui Channel Swim

These are all  ‘B+B on tour (ish)’ photos, and for me they provide a glimpse into the living organism/obsession / religion that is the B&B.

Hope you have an enjoyble week ahead.

Simon (casual blogger with my very cool grandchildren Leila & Max)

Bnb team up with Ocean Care Day – Sunday 1st December!

Cabbage Tree bay where we swim every day is pretty unique – there are not many places like it in the world – especially so near to a big city!! So please say thanks ‘for having us everyday’ by teaming up with Manly Environment Centre’s 20th annual Ocean Care Day and doing a “Clean-up the Bay” swim on Sunday 1st December. Anyone who wants to participate is asked to bring a net bag (or simply stuff your cossie) with whatever rubbish you find during our regular 7am Sunday morning swim. We’ll pile it up before distributing it to rubbish bins to see how much we collect!
A good idea would be to bring your fins/flippers for the swim as they will help you to get the further down rubbish!!
There are no official prizes for who collects the most, but we know our fishy friends will be grateful (as will every environmentally savvy person who appreciates the treasure we have in our beautiful bay). Stick around to enjoy the festivities. Go this link for more information / full schedule: CLICK HERE

For your diary and other stuff:

B&B “Mad Hatters” Christmas Party
The B & B “Mad Hatters” Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday 3rd December at 6.30 pm in the Moonshine Bar (2nd Floor) at the Steyne Hotel. All swimmers and partners/friends are welcome (no under 18s unfortunately). Wear your craziest hat or other headwear. No need to be shy as we will have the whole bar to ourselves. Finger food will be provided and drinks will be at bar prices. Lots of fun and dancing are guaranteed, with a band featuring one of our very own swimmers. Come along to find out who it is. The cost is $10 per head, with all proceeds going to the running costs of the B&B. Don’t miss out. Bookings are essential. Book HERE now so you don’t miss out!
B&B Attendance Login App
The B&B Attendance Login App is the perfect way to avoid queues!! Log your swim (only if you did swim), between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.
To get started, please send an email to Ian Forster [ ugoboyo.gmail.com ] requesting to have your account activated. Ian will then send you info on how to get started. No badge, but bragging rights for being an early adopter. Happy ticking.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

As a relatively recent member of the B&B congregation, it’s great for me to see these historical documents that appear to date back to the biblical origins of this tribe. The audacity bar has been set very high.

… and if that’s too obscure: I’m talking about the ‘on tour’ photos!

Great blog Simon, thanks for including the picture.
Interesting seeing all the other ‘on tour’ photos.
We are indeed, a diverse, fascinating, well travelled, inclusive, fun, eclectic bunch of wonderful individuals.
Which I love being part of.

Rusty, you’ve been drinking too much, you’ve forgotten how to spell your name!
Great blog Simon, even if there weren’t any photos of today’s swimmers 😉

    Great, fun blog Simon !!
Just for the record though, it’s not Sally who beat Rainer to it. It’s Annette Willows in the ‘Brandenburg Gate’ photo.
Absolutely wonderful dolphin and eagle ray photos Nick. Well worth hanging out at the bower for !!

Hi Elaine, glad you liked the blog. It was amazing how many people had read & apparently enjoyed it before 7am.

..and she didn’t beat me to it Jules. That’s clearly not the real Brandenburg Gate but the (much smaller) replica of it in Las Vegas.
Well done on the dolphin shots Nick. Rubbing it in for the majority of us who didnt get a glimpse!
