Lainey Loo/E-Lane/T3 is away and I’m writing my first blog. What big shoes to fill – well, not really, she’s quite petite – maybe what a big mouth to fill is more accurate, although somehow that doesn’t sound right?

It’s now day 7PJ (Post Jules) and day 1490 on the full B&B julesian calendar, yes our 1,490th consecutive day of swimming at 7am – Feb 3 is day 1500 – its great that the Cole Classic is recognising it for us!

I tend to count things, can’t escape my accounting roots although most say I hide it well – I even count my strokes, its normally 750 strokes plus or minus to Shelly without flippers, 600 with flippers, less with a wetsuit!

All sorts of discussions and wry smiles on arrival, catching up on gossip, planning the swim and how to get away with illicit ticks..

Shaun aka DWSS arrived back from the early swim excited about the Blue Gropers at the Point. I didn’t need to go that far to find them!

One of our Eastern Fiddler Rays was also racing to the Point looking for the Gropers

Fiddler and I missed the start but caught up and spotted a few blog tarts on the way across – proving they do actually swim and not just run around to Shelly, get wet, pose for photos and claim ticks! The Lips are certainly back

And Sparks are flying with bubbles blowing….

At Shelly, one of new swimmings from England, Lorna from Liverpool, looking great for her fans and family back in the UK.

Annie, whose kept it pretty quiet that she’s a cheer leader with the Sea Eagles, sent us off with flamboyant whistling style from Shelly Beach. You can see her full repertoire and other outfits at Brookvale Oval during all Sea Eagle home games in 2013.

Meanwhile one of our mega star blog tarts has returned but was missing this morning? While in the UK she was inspired by Little Britain star and swimmer David Walliams…..

We also got a quick interview with Sharon on her return yesterday, click here

Some more stingy and fishy friends on our way back,

Back at the beach, good to see the evil Monday blogster reunited with Mrs Evil.

Former swimmers Lori, Anna and Ness had been checking out surfer dudes as the older groms – they’re now offering free surfing lessons at 6am to any B&B member who can then still make the 7am swim, contact vanessa@thegrom.com.au

The B&B away team are swimming the Palm to Whale this Sunday the 27th. We have about 20 Pink Caps entered and the more the merrier. Main interest will be in the Men’s Elite Senior division where the Flying B’s – Bruce Baird and Bobby Hayter – will be head to head. Meet on the bank near the bag drop from 9 at Palmy. Any support crew at Whale Beach greatly appreciated.
Annie “The Chherleader” Yay, spectacular Let’s Go this morning. What will tomorrow bring?

Stephen…..what were you thinking……yes we offer technique in chatting whilst sitting on a surfboard trying to look young and hot, missing waves as too busy watching everyone else and bonding with the enemy (hanging with Rob from ‘Old & Bold’ who also bailed from his fitness regime to play with us). More the merrier…..tomorrow 6am as the swell is meant to be picking up for the weekend which is what we don’t…yes I said don’t want. Yew!!!!

Stephen – great blog! Will petition for permanent blog day for you. Monday might be good?
Annie – great ‘let’s go!’ at shelly this morning. Definitely up there with some of the best ‘let’s go!’ renditions of the past years. Hard to top.
Rob – love your Orca wetsuit and Monday blog. Regardless of what I might say otherwise.
Shaun – there was not blue groper at the point. Just an old blue dish cloth. You need to slow down. Sounds like you’ve been hallucinating again.
Finally, does anyone know where we’re having brekkie on Saturday? Will Bluewater run out of space?

You may have seen me coaxing some kids out through the break over the past few weeks. They are part of Team Aidan which includes 20 kids aged between 9 and 12 who will swim the 1 km Cole Classic on 3 February. Team Aidan raises money for The Kids Cancer Project the largest funder of research into childhood cancer. http://www.thekidscancerproject.org.au/
Team Aidan will be swimming with B&B on Australia Day as a warm up for the big event. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts, please click here for the team webpage. http://www.everydayhero.com.au/team_aidan_2013

Also saw mr yellow catfish close to the beach on my way out.
Finally edged myself between Brad and Lucy. Feeling a bit awkward.
What i didn’t expect was two other people there with me. Strange days!!

Great blog, Smurfie….. love the theme and all the pics. An amazingly talented Blog Team! We’ll have to look at awarding all Bloggers 10K bonus points without charge:-)
Glad to see you back so well-nourished by your family, Snorkles!
So sorry I won’t be back for Herding Duties on Saturday. Herding back from Shelly, behind the lost lambs who’ve done a detour of NZ or those who’ve pictured every fish under every rock, is a skill I excel in:-)
Now day 9PHKTQ for your stats, so those who missed my fleeting star appearance last Sunday can start dusting off the red carpet!
(That is 9 days pre my return with HJ, Henchie Jon)

Wow wow wow great blog Stephen! We knew you were a great swimmer and a great photographer but who would have guessed that you’re also a great writer/blogger. Well done. Lots of fun. Very witty… and I better shut up because I don’t always get to write comments and I think all the blog writers are doing an exceptional job. Love to Jules on her first day in WA swatting away…yeah yeah yeah…poet and all that…see ya in the swim! Michelle aka sparkles (as who knows who this post will be credited to…due to me IT-illiteracy…)

Have to warn you all that the jam in the Brucy sandwich looks sweet but is poisonous. I was just starting to enjoy the bait when it had its deadly effect. Taking all this time to recover:(

Snorks, a gremlin deleted the David Walliams quote that was meant to accompany your photo yesterday! “When you are doing endurance swimming you just need to take in as many carbs as possible to put on as much weight as you can. Basically you can eat whatever you want, which can be quite fun. Everything is guilt-free.”
    David Walliams
ps Hope the 24 hour sauna is getting you down to wetsuit size, if not bikini size for tomorrow’s Oz Day swim! Bikrams is also good for rapid weight loss.
