The bane of a BnB blogger’s life is all the management notices we have to add to our blogs so I am getting them out the way first off!
The first notice is:
As Anne and Jill will be standing in for Ian and John while they take a well-deserved break for the next few weeks.
We expect to have lots of new swimmers and returning swimmers during this time.
There are a few things that you can do to help ensure that we get everyone in the water by 7am each morning:
· Keep an eye out for new swimmers, welcome them and direct them to the sign-in sheets.
· And for returning swimmers who might still be looking for the check list. Let them know how it works now and encourage them to iLog.
· Keep the area around the sign-in sheets clear so that we can move this process along.
· If you are not already iLogging, email your name to ugoboy@gmail.com so that we can set you up.
· Wait at the point before swimming to Shelly.
· Enjoy your swim!
Here’s Ian welcoming newbies today – it’s busy!

The second notice:
CHRISTMAS MORNING SWIM & BREKKIE
B&B swim to Shelly Beach and back at 7am, 365 days a year which includes Christmas morning.
Having a swim with your friends is a wonderful way to start your Christmas! Please dress in your finest Christmas paraphernalia. We even sang a Christmas carol accompanied by Woodie on the guitar at Shelly Beach last year just to make sure we were in the festive spirit.
Then… if you don’t have to rush off, why not congregate at Shelly Beach afterwards for an informal shared BYO BBQ breakfast. Everyone who can attend should just bring something to share and enjoy. If you have friends or family who would like to join in but don’t want to swim, that’s wonderful too as they can always claim an area and a BBQ at Shelly for everyone, so their contribution will be most appreciated.
A scene from last years Christmas swim!
Ok that’s the boring bit out the way 🙂 ….now to today’s swim!
When I arrived…
It all looked a bit blustery and grey…. but it NEVER stops us swimming!
Tim with his family who came down especially for his birthday!
Ok when the clock says 7.00AM ..we need to start!!
Wavey and choppy and breezy!!
Lips had some blog tarting competition today….
He won this round…
haha!!
At first I thought it was an annoying water droplet on my camera but looking closer Lips seems to have taken blog tarting to virus level this morning…probably coz he’s going away for a few days…
Someone tell Lucy to hold back on the fake tan please!! ;-p
A big set of waves came in as we swam out…in fact I was so busy taking photos I didn’t realise HOW big!!! Then a MONSTER came through but I missed it with my camera!!!
As I was swimming over to Shelly I had not one but TWO of the A TEAM swim past me – so I was able to study their technique underwater ..what surprised me is, despite being so fast time-wise they actually make it all look so effortless ..see below one of them!! incredible…
But the BEST news today was I saw a penguin at Shelly!!! It swam right alongside me as I came in… I couldn’t believe it! In my mind this is what I saw…,.
But actually this is more like it…unfortunely my quick draw photo technique still needs work and this is all I got…
Just a few of us at Shelly …
A weird jelly was being thrown around!!! i was not happy about that coz i broke in half!!! Hopefully they like worms though!?!?!
Tim getting his birthday splash!!!
So, not many of you know this BUT half-way is the New Braver Option!! Only the braver ones of us can manage it ..the rest go through the surf into the beach..
Ian M and me Half-Way-Selfying!
..and then the less brave ones arriving back the safer way 😉
See you all tomorrow!!

We were very lucky to have Annie Crawford and her husband Buck (Simon Buckingham) swimming with us today. They are responsible for Can Too and helping thousands of people run Half Marathons, swim ocean swims etc and raise money for Cure Cancer. Please support Can Too and Manly Surf Life Saving Club and register for the new ocean swim event on 11th Jan!
Can we please decide whether to have our Christmas Get-together at Shelly Beach or The Benches. It would nice to be altogether. Great to have you back blogging Lesbubbs!
