23/02/14 swim stars

23/02/20146

Today’s swim was much the same as every other swim, warm water, fun small waves, inclusiveness and all with a group of superstars! Lucky us!

A few dusky clouds, but sadly I didn’t see any dusky whalers.

I love these crowd shots, a happy hectic group all preparing for the same fun activity.

Here’s the ramp at 6:58am ……still all prepping.

Here’s Ian meeting the newbies. Welcome!

Let’s meet some Superstars.

Another new person joins us today. Hello.

Oh and here’s Sky, getting in on the act.

Nigel enjoys swimming on a Sunday! I wonder why?

Quick stretch before jumping in the ocean.

Look out! There’s even Tigers (male on the right) in the water today

More superstars ….

Father and son

Father and daughter

Lone Ranger

Jenny asked me to get this photo of her 😉

Nigel embracing the waves.

Crowd shot time. Here’s the neat group at The Point.

Let’s go. See the little splashes as you all head off.

Filters on the next two shots of the whole of Shelly. Is this B&B 80 years ago?

Or 40 years ago?

There were plenty of fish out today, all mixing in with each other, just like we do!

Congratulations to all those that swam the last 6km swim yesterday. Having swam my first 6km swim this Summer, I know how it feels! Well done to all the 6 & 10km swimmers this Summer. Keep an eye on the blog for badge presentation ceremony.

Here’s a photo of the early 6km group courtesy of Elizabeth.

**** Big News****

Your Sunday swims are about to get a whole lot more attention!

Recently, I’ve been on a recruitment drive and enlisted three more bloggers to make up the Sunday Dream Team. It’s great to mix it up once in a while and it means I can join Nick down at the Boatshed on a Saturday night! Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for our new faces.

Heart Month

February is Heart Research Month, and we’re raising $1 for every kilometre we swim during the month.

We need to start kicking this along! The swimming is going ok, but a little more for the $$$$ would be great. Here’s the update…

B&B i-Log

Almost 50% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Bolderdash

This daily swim to Queenscliff and back DEPARTS the surf club at 5.50am. As these are generally intimate groups, please WAIT for everyone in the water before heading off. Do buddy up with someone – great to be with someone who has the same pace – that way everyone is ‘accounted for’ at Queenscliff.

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Oh, now I know now why Sky and Marije didn’t see Lips and I departing – they were too busy kissing Nigel and bombing the Newbie pics:-))
All the fish out to play today – even the Old Wives coming to us rather that us having to go looking for them!
Thx for doing such a great job as the Sunday Blogger, Snorkles, and it’s great that there’s now a Sunday team and you can Boatshed the night away from time to time….OR just join us for a swim….or both!

Big shout out to Elaine the Super Star for introducing me to the cuttle fish at the Post Coffee Snorkeling Sesh. Would never have spotted him him otherwise.

Great blog Snorks! And well done Sky for photo bomb of the month in 7th photo down!
Few comments today. I blame the beautiful day and evening out there. Most swimmers probably still out and about enjoying the weather. Manly at its best!
