104 Bold and Beautiful swimmers, and counting (Ian reckons final will be 170), swam this morning… even 10 newbies turned up! The water has dropped a couple of degrees to 22 but you’d never know!
It just so happens that I am today’s guest blogger on the anniversary of my very first B&B swim!
Here’s the blog entry that proves it! ….And we had dolphins. 🙂

Since then I have clocked up over 970 swims! 😉
I was probably MORE scared than anyone on that first swim as I had never gone beyond standing in the ocean in my life.
The following are what I feared the most joining B&B:
Sharks

Blue bottles
Jimbles…(I hadn’t even heard of them before I started swimming)

Michael Christie..

and huge waves…

I’ve since dealt with all 5 of them and survived……the waves still scare me though!
In the beginning I managed to keep a very low profile on the blog – then the ‘great’ photos started…one after the other ..
..after the other..

after the other…
after the other…

😀
Anyway over to today’s swim!
The waves were still ‘big’… MY big….hard to believe looking at this photo .. The tide was very low and it looked just stunning out there! So glad we all turned up! (despite the ‘gloomy’ start to the weather!)

Newbie Harriet WANTS to be seen by sharks!
Rusty lost his earplug …no really he did..

What the Welcome Committee really think each morning….

Always good to do a bit of stretching before the swim..

WOW!

You see? big waves!! (I went to half way!)

Um.. shall we go to half way perhaps??

G’day Errol! I can’t believe he went through the waves! Errol’s a bit of a legend – nearly 80 and turns up most days and always makes to Shelly and back – so what’s your excuse everyone else!!!??

This lot wait till right to the very last minute to enter the water… who do they think they are!?!?

Great footprints in the sand ….

It was magic!

Poor Victoria …she was all geared up to do the Let’s Go (because J.K saw her picking up litter..good one Vick)…and just as she went to shout LET’S GO – Lips distracted her, and her Let’s GO came out a squeak!! Everything’s ALWAYS about you isn’t it Lips!!

I still love seeing these guys….Yellow Tails

Rosemary and Lips waiting at the Point before heading through the waves back to the beach….

Lips said he’d swim with me through the waves…. trying to convince me it will be ok!

MADE IT!! There is nothing like the relief I feel once my feet hit the sand after coming through big waves and today I managed it … I am working on my fear… after 4 years of swimming I need to get over it!

Hey everybody – guess what ? The Monthly Dinner at Bluewater is BACK..with a wine tasting!
B&B Monthly Dinner at Bluewater Restaurant – Special Event – Wine Tasting Dinner!
The first B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 10th March at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant, and will include an exclusive wine tasting for B&B members and their friends. Bluewater Restaurant and Fesq Fine Wine Distributors have combined to provide a fabulous meal with four excellent wines to taste during the evening. Ryan, a wine specialist from Fesq, will be on hand to explain the subtleties of each wine.
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $30 a head, which includes the wine plus shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or (additional) wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: These dinners are very popular and a lot of fun, they are a great way to socialise looking half decent with your fellow BnB’ers but they sell out fast so book your spot by click HERE
See you all tomorrow! Lesbubbles 🙂

Happy Swimmiversay Bubbles!
Love those early photos of you. I remember when I started, you were definitely among the top three things that scared me the most out there.
Sorry Victoria! At least you made the blog!!

Fab to have you back blogging Lesbubbles – better than ever! I agree with everything you said about the waves; thanks Max for supporting me on the way out – I was spending more time under the water than on top of it! Good to feel the sand under the feet on the way back too, and Brian (Pullar’s) presence was reassuring too.

LOST
This morning I lost a flipper (pink DMC swim fin, left, small) in the waves on the way out to The Point. If anyone happened to see it and grab it or does in the future please notify me, or managment. Thank you

Waves, sharks or people not a concern but blue bottles – arrgh, I get quite an allergic reaction so it’s no go for me when they’re around. Would be good to have a ‘stinger’ report added to each blog. I might also be allergic to Harriet’s bikini and shoes 🙂

Quote from Michael Christie: (when I asked him about allergic reactions to stingers) he said “ah they’re just big babies not allergic”
God I miss Michael 😉

No blue bottles for the last 3 days. If you can make the 7 am swim, we always get a blue bottle report from the 6.30 crew as they return. You can then decide if you want to swim or not. You’re right about Harriet’s bikini. It produced an interesting reaction from some of the guys.

Awesome blog Lesbubbles, as always.
Some great pics!!
Glad to hear I’m not the only one still conquering my fear of big waves! I made it both ways today, after taking the halway exit on the return yesterday ;). Been getting rewarded for the early exits with baby dusky sightings though so it’s been a win-win really.
Cheers,

Great blog and lovely photos from your early years Lesbubbles, confirming what I’ve said in my last blog “young and charming”. B&B wouldn’t be the same without you. All the best for the next 4 years.

Hi Kim I got stung today…showed it to Ian who said it looked like a bluebottle sting. I’ve no idea as I didn’t see it. Did make me swim faster to the half way point tho!!
