Sydney area:
Cloudy. Scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms, possibly severe.
Winds north to northeasterly 25 to 35 km/h becoming light in the late evening.
One of those days where you just need to HTFU and get wet before you get wet… know what I mean?

All the yellow bits are thunderstorms.. 🙂

Everyone else was like……

Booty camp has some new moves.. this one is called “the Drowning Ant”

This was the best place at 6:45…

Everyone had their duck faces on – see how it comes easy to some ……

That’s it Ros…

Yeeeeeeeesssssss….

Done this before eh?

Anyway – most went round to halfway to start, and some of us went in at the beach.
Storchy offered to take a pic of the group…..

… 3rd go… got it …. thanks mate!

David Attenborough himself couldn’t have got a better shot of the shy Surf Lemur emerging,
…as you can see, spooked by the camera… but I got one good shot…

Becks Taylor is blog tart of the day….

Another very rare shot of Storchicus Bootycampus actually at the other end…
Hands in the air – like you just don’t care

We did see some flathead which were almost big enough to be small wobbegongs…

A Spangled Emperor – when they’re spooked they go blotchy like this one ..
he was probably in shock when he saw Storchy at Shelley…

Some of these….

This is Sparkels and Storchy enjoying the flat calm conditions..

Did I say calm? I meant cyclonic….

In the “where are they now” section….

Bnb team up with Ocean Care Day – Sunday 1st December!
Cabbage Tree bay where we swim every day is pretty unique – there are not many places like it in the world – especially so near to a big city!! So please say thanks ‘for having us everyday’ by teaming up with Manly Environment Centre’s 20th annual Ocean Care Day and doing a “Clean-up the Bay” swim on Sunday 1st December. Anyone who wants to participate is asked to bring a net bag (or simply stuff your cossie) with whatever rubbish you find during our regular 7am Sunday morning swim. We’ll pile it up before distributing it to rubbish bins to see how much we collect!
There are no official prizes for who collects the most, but we know our fishy friends will be grateful (as will every environmentally savvy person who appreciates the treasure we have in our beautiful bay). Stick around to enjoy the festivities. Go this link for more information / full schedule:

For your diary and other stuff:
B&B “Mad Hatters” Christmas Party
The B & B “Mad Hatters” Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday 3rd December at 6.30 pm in the Moonshine Bar (2nd Floor) at the Steyne Hotel. All swimmers and partners/friends are welcome (no under 18s unfortunately). Wear your craziest hat or other headwear. No need to be shy as we will have the whole bar to ourselves. Finger food will be provided and drinks will be at bar prices. Lots of fun and dancing are guaranteed, with a band featuring one of our very own swimmers. Come along to find out who it is. The cost is $10 per head, with all proceeds going to the running costs of the B&B. Don’t miss out. Bookings are essential. Book
HERE now so you don’t miss out!
B&B Attendance Login App
The B&B Attendance Login App is the perfect way to avoid queues!! Log your swim (only if you did swim), between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.
To get started, please send an email to Ian Forster (
ugoboyo@gmail.com) requesting to have your account activated. Ian will then send you info on how to get started. No badge, but bragging rights for being an early adopter. Happy ticking.
Badges, badges and more badges!!
Summer Badge season is just a couple of weeks away!! The sign of a committed ocean swimmer is a B&B 6km or 10km Summer Badge. The 6km swims take place every Saturday in summer. The first 10km swim is proposed to be held on 14 December.
Have Fun more with the Pacific Challenge
Our website guru, Magnus Butlin has developed a fun new page which shows a different take on the Pacific Challenge. The new page shows each swimmer’s progress over the last week (or fortnight/month/two months) in terms of their position on the leader board.
The bumps chart can be accessed from the Pacific Challenge page via a button in the top right hand corner. Take a look and see how many people you have passed in the Pacific Challenge in the last few weeks:
The ‘divisions’ listed are the columns currently shown on the Pacific Challenge page. At this stage, only the first five columns (300 swimmers) are shown.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download,

Great blog mate. And funny as always. Love the pouting theme.
It was pretty epic going out through the surf today. I swam so far out to avoid the breakers I could see Auckland.

Hilarious Blog Nick! My first day back after hand surgery today – great fun.
And a TRIUMPH!!!! Lainey-Loo has joined the illustrious ranks of official photographers to the Australian Museum with this lovely shot:
http://australianmuseum.net.au/image/Senator-Wrasse-at-Manly/
Check her name below the photo. Our previous image was a DEAD one (top right pic on the site), so it’s one giant leap for mankind (or fish buffs anyway).

It looks like that previous Senator Wrasse was shot from behind its left ear, possibly from a weedy knoll.
Nicholas, lovely blog and no spelling mistakes. Congrats!

Disregard that photo of me. I had clearly been shot and killed by some lame sniper.

I think you are right John.
I believe there was a second photographer as well.
But it’s just a theory!

Thanks Jane, I’m stoked. I’ll have to practise my free diving skills as i may have got it wrong saying it was 8 metres, not good on measurement!
Great blog Nick, wish I’d been there!
