Today 85 swimmers showed up to keep each other company for the crossing of the Bay.
Conditions were stunning today; just a little cloud out to sea, a few rolling waves, and the bright sunny faces of our favourite swim buddies.
I reckon it is the joy in seeing the people you swim with that adds that extra motivation to turn up.
The waves looked a little bigger from the beach! But as long as you could dodge the surfers, the waves were not too much of a challenge as they rolled into the beach.
Off to Shelly we go!!
Here is a group that most certainly display the bonds of friendship! The Speed Demons.
These two were comparing their experiences with recent bouts of “Man Flu”
The water remains cloudy after the swells of the past few days so fish hunting is limited. Also wearing a wetsuit seems to turn me into a big buoyant blob making it a super challenge to dive down to the rocks and reeds! However, here are some of the regulars hanging around the surface for their morning feed.
A beautiful ending to a great swim is the après swim coffee to compare notes.
While it looks inviting, always remember to look out for each other! Today Bruce found himself in a spot of bother around the rocks. As you can see, he recovered from the trauma with the aid of heaters, coffee and the support of his swim buddies.
So far 118 swimmers have qualified for their Cold & Bold badge!!
Have a great day.

Great photos again today. The fish were more visible than last few days. What is the name of the silver ones with vertical dark stripes. Lots of those.

Spot on Mary, it’s all about the people!
Pleasant conditions today. Patrick and I exchanged man-flu notes at Shelly.
Turns out he cheated and took Penicillin.

I agree with beautiful Mary who agrees with Lips.
Its all about the eclectic mix of people who somehow come together under the umbrella of Pink Caps and would likely not otherwise have done so.
Its pretty cool and special!

Thanks again Mary
We certainly have made a lot of friends at the B&B. Its up there with the top benefits of the fun.
And the thing is that any new member can join in the friendships from day one.

Yes, quite sure the company is as important as the swims for well-being. We’re all very fortunate to be part of this amazing, eclectic group.
….and yes, if Bruce, a seasoned pro, can get caught on the rocks, any of us can if not carefu… should be grateful my left arm made the pic at least:-)

Hi Elizabeth – sounds like Luderick, aka Blackfish (Girella tricuspidata). Go to:
http://australianmuseum.net.au/Luderick-Girella-tricuspidata/
Sometimes very dark, sometimes silvery grey.
Can’t wait to be back tomorrow – after a bout of something similar to Patrick’s and Lips’s bug.

….and the swim with (mostly) gentle waves was one of the loveliest I’ve had on this visit – thanks Derek for the company!
