21/10/2014 – It’s time for reflection

This morning the sky was completely grey except for what looked like a massive crack through which glorious sun rays streamed. At the time I was surrounded by fire trucks and ambulances heading to Dee Why, it was not the time to stop for a photo opportunity!!

It was about this time the announcement of the end of an era was hitting the airwaves.  Gough was gone.  Excuse my reflection, but as a teenager during those exuberant, heading days, this news highlights the slow turning of the cogs of time.

Today a squad of super athletes joined the 87 B&B swimmers for the swim across the bay.  These triathletes come from all over the world, and are training for the Olympics!!

A bit cooler at 18.1 degrees, visibility still poor – so no fish sighting.  Ted gave a booming Let’s Go at the point.

Here is the A team plus future Olympians in readiness at Shelly. . .  You could fee the tension!

Sharni was chilled.  Who wants to race when there are so many things to see along the way?

BOULDERDASH – Starts on 27^th October

The Boulderdash will start officially on Monday 27th October and will run every day until the end of Summer. The start time is just before 6 am at Manly Surf Club, and the route goes from Manly to Queenscliff and back (3 km total). You should be back at the Club just in time for the 7 am Shelly swim. If you are intending to do the Boulderdash, can you please swim with the group at the correct starting time (random swims during the day do not count). The main aim of the Bold and Beautiful is to provide a fun group activity, so we request that the “regulars” please welcome any new swimmers who wish to try the Boulderdash for the first time. They will feel much more at ease if they are swimming as part of a group.
