21/09/2014 whoa badge day!

21/09/20148

The sky is grey, the waves are wavy but we’re all having fun at a Royal Far West. Blog coverage today comes from the school, and our winter badge ceremony.

What a turn out! And all for these! The 2014, winter badges!

First, let’s report on today’s swim.
Here’s Nick explaining to a confused John Bond where the thermometer is?

JK took off with it! 17.7c apparently.
Although 007 wanted a recount, 7am was fast approaching.

So the temperature, maybe right, maybe wrong, was written on our whiteboard.

Some swimmers beg to appear on the blog! “I need to prove I was here and got wet!”

We always love a fashionista, seen here in matching shorts and cap.

Everyone today, had one question on their mind…..”what colour will they be?”

Well apart from these three, just loitering in front of the photographers trying to get in the next edition of ‘Who’ magazine.

What was going on, on the ramp today?

The headline reads……
Poor unsuspecting male, last seen being tackled by two lovely ladies. Were they helping him in to it, or out of it? Hmmm…..

If you arrive at 0705, this is what the meeting point looks like. A sign of a full ocean!

8am soon rolled round and the badge ceremony awaits.
Wil (bottom left of the post it note) despite not gaining any badges, was picking up ones for all his swimmer friends.

One by one, we headed up to gain our badge, or badges if we had braved winter without a wetsuit!

Swimmers were seen practising their acceptance speeches …..

Despite the grey sky, the crowd waited patiently.

Jules even helped out on the BBQ.

The end of the alphabet arrives and we smile and accept, ate and drink and leave looking forward to our day ahead, whatever that may bring.

The rest:lots

Water temp:17.7c

Signing off Snorkles, friends and 7 badges.

How do we collect our badges if we were unable to attend this mornings ceremony?

Great Blog as usual Snorkles!……and I hope y’all will come and support my recently-arrived-from-USA-son-in-law Al Del Bene at his standup show at the Steyne this coming Wed. evening. He is establishing his career in Oz and would love your support (but stay away if you’re not broad-minded!). Should be a lot of fun.
