Today is the anniversary of the landing of the first white man at Manly CAPTAIN ARTHUR PHILLIP R.N 1st GOVERNOR OF NSW 21st January 1788.
here’s Arthur
and here is his monument in Manly Cove, located close to the ferry
How lucky are we to be living in a place that was named 5 days before the first Australia Day.
Hum the song for today as you think about how lucky we are to be here 226 years after Arthur first sighted beautiful Manly.

Verse 1 (the boys)
Do you hear me, I’m talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I’m trying
Verse 2 (the girls)
Lucky Ziva>>>
Boy, I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
(Chorus)
Lucky I can swim with my best friends
Lucky to have swum where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Verse 3
They don’t know how great it is
Swimming in a place like this
(thanks Stephen)

Every time we say goodbye

B&B Attendance i-log!
Come on folks – this is the most efficient way to capture your swims. It’s a smart phone friendly website so no need to download, just mark it as a Bookmark. There are so many good reasons to use the B&B i-log – like no queues, no need for glasses to find your name, and never missing the 7am call.
Log your swim ANYTIME that day for an easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started. Happy clicking.
Summer badge swims
Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.
Next 10km (and last one) to be announced
Bolderdash
To Queenscliff and back. Every morning during summer, LEAVING the surf club at 5.50am. Wait for everyone in the water before the swim starts. Buddy up with someone, usually the same ‘speed’, that way everyone is ‘accounted for’ at Queenscliff.

I often think about what this place was like before Arthur. For me it was a paradise. So all the more reason to appreciate and care for the treasures of Manly.
