21/01/2013 – With great blog, comes great responsibility……

21/01/201342

But I say: She’s gone! The shackles are off! Bloggers go mental!!!

*EVIL LAUGH*

So Im not sure whether I will use this blog for good or for evil to be honest….oh no wait I already did the evil laugh.

Evil it is!

Im kidding of course.

I had a great weekend (I know you guys are interested in my social life) in Manly, the carnival was awesome and I even got to meet two Manly celebrities, the girl group Ebony and Ivory who were signing copies of their latest album called “Everyone loves you but me”. Keep an eye out for their upcoming shows at The Steyne and The Boatshed.

Since the carnival is over, we were very happy to have our full swim back. And it was a perfect calm day for it too. (Gotta love that iphone 5 panorama view!)

Now I get a lot of people sharing their thoughts with me about the fact I still wear a wetsuit. I love hearing all your thoughts on the subject, I really really do. However, here is the former deputy leader of the liberal party clearly about to jump into his wetsuit only a few days after giving me stick. For shame sir! 😛

I reckon “bump” should start getting ticks for the swim so he or she can get after MC’s record!

Muscle beach has nothing on the B&B. Limbering up for the swim!

Now these are not people getting OUT, these are people getting IN!

You gotta love it when you see the families swimming together, hopefully these guys will be B&B’ers for many years to come…

At Shelly, I was “instructed” to take a blog tart photo. Glad there was some water on the lens!! (Only half a point there Rainer)

Now this is how you  blog tart! Sharon in sunny but freezing Bournemouth…minus 1 degree!

BIG SHOUT OUT to Izzy who had been given the opportunity to do the “LETS GO!” from Shelly…very sorry I missed your moment Izzy…blame the blog tarts.

Is it just me or is Jule’s getting better looking?

There were shouts at the point that there were 2 large Wobbegongs right under us and just as I had changed the camera to underwater action shots this fella swam directly under me! Awesome.

Of course, Jacques Cousteau himself Steven Coulter got some AMAZING pics!! He also got a great video:

And thanks to the girls for spotting them…they are the WOBBEGIRLS!

Keep smiling and swimming,

Please would you bring that gorgeous cat to B&B so I can have a cuddle too?

Great blog, and yes, I think you are right Rob, baby Maier should start accumulating points in the pacific challenge too! Great photos of the two Wobbegongs today, they were huge, gentle nd amazing… We certainly are a privileged bunch! Sorry about your photo Rainer… But we can still see it is indeed you!

Nice calm conditions today which made for an enjoyable second lap
Great video of the Wobbegong by Stephen
I’ve been to the Bournemouth pier. I’m afraid it just doesn’t rate with the environment that we swim in at Manly.

Hey Rob and everyone. Are you guys going to show some ‘pink’ at the Sydney Skinny ‘Ocean Swim’ (a mere 900m around Cobbler’s Beach raising money for the Middle Head National Park)? No stingers, no wetsuits needed. I think the caps won’t count.
I’m sure the event needs some eye candy. Let’s see how ‘Bold’ you really are.
Didn’t some of you do a rehearsal on the night swim?

Maybe this is the B&B Australia Day challenge, wearing traditional Aboriginal attire!?
Ok everybody… who did something adventurous, exhilarating… or even a bit daring???
So who needs a reality check on their sense of adventure??
Check out how much fun the Welsh had when they got 413 to set the world record skinny dip… Come on Sydney we can take this record!

I know Alyson. Very annoyed about the blurry photo. My nips were extra perky this morning!

Nice work Rob. Quality Monday blog. As always.
No hard feelings re water drop on my blog tart photo. Covering my nips might actually help in getting the BnB site de-indexed in the UAE.
Has anyone noticed Stephen’s got an obsession with skinny dipping?

  • Stephen Coulter

    21/01/2013 at 1:13 pm

I understood B&B wannaB was another of your alias’ Rainer ‘The Nips (are getting bigger)’

    Dear BnB wannaB,
Yes, I’m signed up and paid for. I’m also working on the other ladies in the changing room, but so far only Attracta seems interested in taking part. So typically Irish, to go naked at every opportunity…
“Underneith our clothes, we are all naked” is an old adage. To be precise, I think it came from the Muppet Show, and that’s pretty old.

Is there a badge in It for us?
If so, were do we wear it?

Great evil blog today Rob, really nice shots and great marine life. I think the wobbegong
is the same one I saw yesterday, really cool.
Also I’m sure there might be some cuttlefish lovers out there too,
for you I made a special video with one I found yesterday
while diving and the nice bit is at the end
when it’s little baby turns up!
    Hope you enjoy:

Oh Dolphin Whisperer, yes of course there should be a badge in it for us. We’ll work out later were it goes, yeh?
Have you signed up yet? it’s $35 for the privilege of enjoying the salty Sydney Harbour against your skin, uninterrupted by pesky threads.
I’m Swedish and I know what I’m talking about. We do nude swims all the time, as you all know.

You must have a good memory unless you’ve been watching re-runs. Apparently it was Sam the Eagle who pointed out that we all walk around totally naked under our clothes.
I’ve signed up for it. Nowhere near as scary as a B&B swim! ( I think they’re really flexible about entry and exit states and the degree of out of water exposure you’re comfortable with).
I don’t know whether you’ll be able to capture all the underwater action as you do on your B&B swims.

How exciting there are cuttlefish out there already . Jules said they are usually about in Winter. Love the blog again Robster! Ebony and Ivory, Hugh Jackman, Richard Branson, John Kelly, all the celebs are swimming with us 😉 SC definitely is obsessed with skinny dipping! So many of us will be at Husky otherwise we’d have been there for sure!

  • Anna Alvsdotter

    21/01/2013 at 1:52 pm

    Sam the Eagle it was!!
Who are you, B&B wannaB?! A person (man or woman?) with endless knowledge and obviously a good taste for adventure since you’ve signed up for the Naked Swim.
Mind you, I think the only things you are allowed to wear are goggles and cap. No pervers wanted unless you go the full monty yourself (in which case nobody can stop you from perving anyway, I guess). No cameras and no spectators allowed within the water entry area. (Sorry to disappoint)

  • B&B wannaB

    21/01/2013 at 2:21 pm

I think fins and floaties are allowed. They don’t cover much anyway. Suppose that depends how you use/wear them.
I don’t have a pink cap. Maybe I’ll get a special cap for the day. I’ll let you know so that you can spot me. I’ll see if I can find one that really stands out so no one looks at anything else. In case you’re getting worried you’ll be looking for a woman.

Yes S.C defo obsessed with skinny dipping….but sadly for S.C only the men are ever interested in showing their nuts!

You dont really want me to answer that, Stephen?

  • 'The Lips' formerly known as Rainer

    21/01/2013 at 4:17 pm

Stephen, stop using out-dated stereotypes for pushing your not-so-subtle skinny dipping agenda. I don’t have to like skinny dipping just because I’m German. Okay, I’ll admit I enjoy doing the occasional bit of housework in the nude, but that’s pretty much it.

Should this be a different link? It keeps loading Jules and Mc farewell… No cuttlefish to be seen?

Bahaha today’s comments are quiet entertaining!! Love reading it all – Anna, you surprise me!

If you try and strap it and package it, I’ll demand someone do a prison style search on you!
    How small is your camera?

Thanks Fiona, the reserve is really a great diving spot,
I think we are just privileged to have it all right here on
    our doorsteps! Aren’t we?

  • Anna Alvsdotter

    21/01/2013 at 9:15 pm

Mauricio you are too right, we are privileged!
I love your clip – posted it on Facebook just now – and am in awe of your ability to hold your breath and stay still for so long under water.
    Brilliant.

    21/01/2013 at 9:17 pm

Yes I surprised myself even. Who would have thought I remembered that quote from a 1977 episode of the Muppet show, eh?

    21/01/2013 at 9:18 pm

Btw, Attracta is really the driving force behind this Nude swim, I just tag along because I quite like her accent.
Ask her about the swim next time you see her, she’s rather excited about it.

WOW what a spectacular video!! We’ve just arrived 🙂 But now after watching that we’re more homesick than ever.
Jane… Cuttlefish lay eggs right? So this beautiful little baby cuttlefish wouldn’t actually be this big cuttlefish’s baby? Would this just be a co-incidence?? Very intrigued…
Mauricio, Dean Cropp had better watch out, I think his job, filming underwater for channel 7 could be in jeopardy.
Rob, great blog, I hate to put it in writing but you are really very funny.

    21/01/2013 at 10:48 pm

Hi Jules good to know you arrived well!
I thought as well and saw on another video about the eggs
the interesting fact about this video was that the adult
actually seems to attract the baby out of it’s hidding place
by changing it’s pattern as if saying : hey come have a look at this guy!
Take care and hope you enjoy Perth!

Thats exactly what I was thinking , Anna. I can get little more than shaky blur when I attempt anything like that!
