Goooooooooooooooood morning Manly
Welcome again to sunday worship.
The
Carnival is in town, lots of people, nowhere to park, long coffee shop
queues and lots of 6 Packs walking around. would you want to be anywhere
else though?
As I did last week, I’ll begin with another water based quote.
“You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.”
Edwin Louis Cole
(Important tip there from Ed, remember folks, if you’r going to swim, swim safe and with your limits) More info here
A note about Friday:
Friday was a sad day, I’m
sad to see Jules go, I’ve know her for about 3 years now and she was
instrumental at getting me swimming and losing my fear of the water. I
remember my first swim to shelly, she pretty much held my hand the
whole way and encouraged me to carry on swimming every time I froze with
fright on what seemed like a never ending 1.5kms of darkish water. So, thanks Jules. Through you, the B&B and a great bunch of Bronzies at
the club both Lin and I have made many friends and for that I/we are
truly thankful. I’m sure, infact i know there are many more stories
like this and you and your efforts are appreciated by many people. We
wish you all the best.
B&B – where it all began – This was a big turnout back in the day!

PS – Jules just text me to say she way half way to Perth already. Here’s a pic to prove it.
OK, so onto the business of the blog…..
It was FLAT AS BRO!
Most people swam the alternate swim route again today due to the surf carnival taking up the whole beach. it really was flat.

It was pretty busy this morning but the cloud did keep a few swimmers away.

The long walk

The water quality was fairly good but my underwater camera isnt great so the pics are average im afraid.

Bill McPherson spotted a new fish yesterday and has left a detailed description of it:
What fish is it / where did you spot it?
Flathead in its outer shell of pâte à la bière avec un nid de pommes de terre frites.
Found near the Corso, Manly, NSW
(beer batter with a nest of french fried potatoes)

I
saw this online yesterday, is this for real?

And to finish off this weeks installment of ‘Blog News’ I’ll finsh with a few quick water based words from Lord Byron:
“Roll on, deep and dark blue ocean, roll.
Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain.
Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore.“
Lord Byron
That’s all for now.
Tim
PS – Dont forget the Australia Day swim, it’s gonna be BIG!

Love your blogs Tim..very entertaining! However I personally LOVED your underwater shots and don’t think they are average in the slightest. And imagine the blog tarting if our mate Hughie were to join in??!! …I am already workshopping smurf strategies.
Wow didn’t realise the lovely LSA was back? She’s popping up everywhere lately….
And how good is that piccie of the originals…so weird not seeing any pink on them though!

I wouldn’t get too excited about Hughie if I were you. Judging by Tim’s photoshopping skills, I am highly suspicioUs of the veracity of the report.

Hi! Frosties report: we made it! 13.1km in 5 and a half hours; we fought a rough southerly swell, backwash from the dliff and a plague of bluebottles at Bondi, where everyone got at least a few stings!
Sorry state of affairs when swimming across the heads is the easiest section of the swim!!!

We used to call ourselves the M&M’s because of all the different coloured swim caps bobbing off the point each day! Too funny! Didn’t take us too long to come up with B&B name and colour over a few laughs at the cafe steyne for breakfast after the swim each day!
Great blog well done!

Yet another great blog. A lovely touch of nostalgia there, what sweet memories, 4 years full of them 🙂
I’m pretty sure I could jump on the first plane if Hugh Jackman, Richard Branson or the like were to ever grace us with there presence. In fact try and stop me 😉
Can I borrow your supersonic transporter please LSA ?? Currently in Caiguna, just across the second WA time zone, so now on Perth time with no water in sight… missing you all xx
