All the bluebottles that were around yesterday had disappeared this morning and it was a virtually stinger free, bumpy but beautiful swim! The sky was BLUE, the sun was shining, the air and water warm and the company, as always… amazing!
6.40am Cabbage Tree Bay. Best.Spot.On. Earth.
It was fantastic to see Jane appear, pushing her Aldi trolley (definitely the coolest way to transport your swimming gear)! Jane has been missing for weeks with a bout of sickness and overseas guests getting in the way of her morning swim routine. I was hoping her return might mean some great fish sightings but unfortunately it was murky today. (Jane tells us there is clear water and great snorkelling near Fairlight pool.)
Bruce, looking fit as a fiddle as around 130 7am swimmers entered the water!
There were a few waves but not dumping luckily.
We’ve got some extremely tall swimmers joining us at the moment!
Here’s Jane again, with her joyful spirit and positive attitude she represents this wonderful group completely!
Sun’s out, Guns out for Ed and James Bond!
Louise, Jill and Kerry at Shelly!
Although it hasn’t been very clear lately and we haven’t seen much marine life you can be lucky enough to have an experience with a Groper if you know where to look. (Ask me where I took the photos above if you don’t know as we don’t like to put exact locations on the blog because of illegal fishing).
Some group shots of earlier in the week. (My brother’s over from England and had to get him in the blog!)

Surf Carnival swim change. It’s that time of year again when our corner is over run. The Manly Surf Lifesaving Open Carnival will be held on 23 January and the Nipper Nats on 25 January 2016 (Saturday and Monday). On both days there will be a very high level of IRB activity in the Southern corner in front of the surf club and the ramp, particularly in the early mornings starting from about 5.30am. On these occasions, we revert to starting from Shelly, swimming to inside the point and then back to Shelly. It is important that we all co operate as the likelihood of head clashes or being run over by IRB’s are increased on these two days. Thank you for your co operation.

Not entirely bluebottle-less Lainey, the lone bluey still out there was angry and looking for vengeance. Otherwise, yeah fabulous swim and pass the antihistamines
