1st October, 2018. Happy holiday!

01/10/20186

There were plenty of people today ready to have an extra swim thanks to the public holiday. Conditions were perfect, clear and calm water,  temperature has increased to 17.7 degrees and numbers increased to 231 total. My arrival shot to the club

Anne greeting one of the six new swimmers to our group – welcome newbies 😊

People were milling about, a few of my favourite people that I mostly only see on weekends- margot, Leveena, Wendy and Leonie

Look who’s back from sailing to cocos islands- Nicky with family here

Lots of people donning wetsuits, wisely for reasons you’ll see soon , and having general chit chat before the call to start swimming.

I love graffiti and find tattoos equally interesting! This ones impressive

Marco’s back from Europe , telling the tale of his small accident in the alps. David, Brian and Sam keen to listen and learn from his mistakes, maybe

A rare female member of the A team below

After the swim JP told me a story of how some of the A team offered to help a swimmer in the middle of the bay today. Always nice to hear and a reminder that as the group grows heading into summer some newer people aren’t as experienced in the deep water as the rest of us. I just can’t remember if she accepted the help or swam for her life back to shore. 😉

Conditions looked wonderful but the purple man eaters were everywhere from beginning to end. I bailed with a few girls and returned early . Here’s some evidence, long tails and chunky bodies

Some of the girls I swam with – rosemary, Lisa, anne and Belinda

The reason we should be wary of the purple jellies- poor ken got stung badly swimming to freshwater, as you do .

Lesbubs posed with a jelly

The famous speedo I followed back to land

Have a lovely day everyone, see below re- dinner, Edwina 🌸

Monthly Dinner – 9th October 2018 – Special Event

The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 9th October at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant, and will feature a very different format than normal. Our guest on the night will be one of our swimmers, Karen Sander, who is the creator of the radio program Ageing Fearlessly. Karen will host a Parkinson style show where she will interview three guests. The identity of the guests is being kept under wraps and will only be revealed at the dinner. The one thing that she will let you know is the guests fall into the following categories:

  1. A household name
  2. A mystery guest
  3. A Bold and Beautiful Immortal

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

Lovely blog Weenie which I enjoyed reading from Istanbul airport. Conditions look great but a shame about purple jellyfish. Great to see Nicky back after her epic sailing adventure!

What a Greta blog! It communicated the vine of the swim for readers who did not swim. What a bright jellyfish. Is it a new type or a mutant jimble

I don’t know what it is but I won’t swim while they’re around. Not after my last jimble sting
