I know this could be off-putting! And I bet some of you lay in bed thinking ‘NOONE would turn up in this weather, I’m staying in bed”!
But we did! All 85 of us!
As you can see we weren’t the only ones in there!
Rainer Lips Noack – took the temperature. German Engineering at it’s best. Such precision!
Those poor wetsuit wearers – I don’t know how they do it! That over-heating when they are swimming must be unbearable!
There was a bit of sun!
Guess the muscly backs! 🙂
Some at the point, others, not sure?!?
Wee bit chilly at Shelly!
Really, it was so worth getting up for ! look at it! And to quote Heidi from today “that was my best swim EVER”!!
Greg M decided a bit of de-lousing was in order! 😀
Actually it was only full of hot water to spray the ladies with but he lucked out and had to do Nigel instead hehe
er….one more photo should do it! 😀
(I think Nige wins blog tart of the day! And I assure you it wasn’t deliberate …cough… really!!)

Just for fun…..I found this amazing photos!
Late 1800’s looking towards Shelly….it had a beach at Half Way and everything!!
And this is even more amazing, a water chute right on the corner of Ashburner and South Steyne – the photo was taken sort of where Surf Club is!

It was an honour taking the water temperature this morning. A few things worried me though:
My first reading was 28.5 degrees. Which was immediately after John pulled the thermometer out of his budgies. My second reading was 10.5, immediately after submerging the instrument in the water. My third reading was 18.2, after wiggling it in the shallows for about 20 seconds, as instructed by management.
Now, apparently you have to then add 0.5 degrees to this number. Again, as instructed by management. Why, I’m not sure. Maybe the thermometer is broken, or maybe to slightly exaggerate the temperature on the blog, to ensure newbies aren’t put off. Kind of similar to Julie’s ban on jimble sting photos and photos of sharks larger than 1m.

And don’t you love the three beautifully dressed ladies at halfway beach?

Congratulations on being trusted with the water temp! I’d heard it was quite a skill to come up with the right figure. I think you’re right about the p.c. readings as being like the jimble stings and shark sightings.
Why don’t we just agree on 20.0 degrees every day through winter so as to encourage newbies, those returning from trips in warmer climates and regulars who’re having difficulty taking their uggies off?
See you Sat morning ready for a 6.59er and brekkie. Hopefully will be too jet-lagged to notice whether it’s 18.2 or 20.0! Can’t wait:-))

Hey Lippy. The reason the addition of the .05 degree is to keep the new thermometer in sync with the old, thus keeping the integrity of Michael’s long term temperature chart.
I know it is a lot of fuss to keep integrity and it must be tough for a 1/2 way exiter to understand but it is correct. How was your walk today??
Hehehe
Great blog Lesbubbles. Captured the feeling of the morning perfectly.
Old photos are fascinating! Is that the way it was Storchy? Your over 50, right?

Just so you all know, the “Rudy Nudy” swim on Friday is NOT an officially sanctioned B and B event. This type of thing increases our risk profile no end, and we can’t afford the insurance. Disrobe at your own risk! And don’t forget, the dangley bits are very tempting to gropers!

No, but the penalty for non completion is a full nude swim to Shelly and back!!!

Wondering if Rusty would consider renting out just his bathroom.
Hot shower, close proximity to the beach.

Oh don’t be like that Lippy. I was only being informative and at the same time, caring.
How was your walk? No really, I care!!
I fail to see how you could suggest that compliments to Lesbubbles writing skills could be anything but sincere. Wednesdays are always great fun. (Not to mention all the other bloggers as well!!) all do a great job.

After reading Lips’ complicated method of calculating the water temperature, I’m wondering if there is some relatively easy quadratic equation that can be applied? Perhaps 007 can let us in on this mathematical secret.

yeah, yeah, i remember the sand at halfway and coming down the bush track where bower lane now stands.
We were, Fi and I, strolling along, innocently talking about the newest beatnik cave painting style, when a T-Rex jumped out and scared the proverbial out of us…..
Talk about a hoot!
