19/04/2013 – 100 daily things

19/04/201319

Do you have a bucket list? One of our swimmers, Sebastian Terry, decided after the death of a close friend to put pen to paper and re-create a long-forgotten list of 100 things. His eclectic and highly personalised list contains getting shot as well as raising $100,000 for Camp Quality, and has seen him travel to the ends of the Earth on a quest to prove that anything is possible, including true fulfillment.

As you can see, even in a less than flattering photo, Sebastian manages to look fabulous. It could be good genes, but my bet is that striving for fulfillment and meaning in your life gives you an air of contentment and general handsomeness.

Which is why the people who come to swim in pink caps every morning look so gawd damn gorgeous, I say. Just look at this beautiful person in the photo below. Lori Szambowski, aka the best buddy in the world.

Sebastian has crossed out more than half of the 100 things on his list so far, and it’s an absolutely fascinating journey he is on. It might take him years to complete, and he is living life fully along the way. Here he is with Matt getting ready to swim.

So I was thinking (as you do when you’re meditatively moving through the soothing, salty waters of Cabbage Tree Bay) – what if I had a daily list of 100 things to do that make each day meaningful and special?

Top of the list – you guessed it – is our daily routine of swimming in the ocean with friends. The air of excited anticipation pre-swim speaks volumes about how much it means to us all.

Swimming with the B&B allows us to tick many meaningful things off our daily list, like connecting with nature..

..scratch an itch..

..have a friendly scuffle with Shaun (aka the Dolphin Whisperer)..

..take a moment to adjust your vision..

..make an impression..

..smile, because no matter what, there is always something to be happy about..

..immerse yourself..

..hug someone you love..

..appreciate what you have..

..be in the moment..

..share a joke with a Swede..

..giggle like a little kid..

..wonder at nature’s beauty and abundance..

..recycle and re-use cups, but never be afraid to mix old with new friends..

..share the warmth..

What’s on your 100 daily list?

That’s all from Girl Friday blogger Anna 🙂

ps. We had 178 swimmers, including 2 newbies, and the water temperature was 21.7 degrees.

An inspirational blog as usual Anna, you rock!
I know a lot of you want to make a difference and help out in a developing country as part of your Bucket List. Remember to try and make the dinner in early June when Dr Ray (the Fred Hollows of womens bits)will talk to us about volunteering in Nepal. I’m hoping we can get Seb on board too. Please tell all your kind, caring, adventurous friends too!

Just in case you missed it on yesterday’s Blog, here are some comments from Amanda Hay at the OzMus:
“Nice work on the fish pictures. The lionfish and moorish idol while uncommon in these parts have both been known to occur to southern NSW. They may not make it through the cold waters of winter, unlike you guys!
Stephen they can also work in teams to hunt prey making them very effective predators. Check out this great blog…

Anna, one item on my bucket list is ‘one straight week of successful blog tarting’.. I always seem to miss out on Fridays. Do I need to put the white rashie back on?
