17/12/2017 To half way or not to half way?

17/12/201710

Mornin’ all. Inner Westies here.

That was the question we all pondered on arrival…

26 newbies, 420 olbies (doesn’t quite work does it!) and warm water 20.8 degrees.

Seas have been rough this week and again this morning. Even a bit of surf at Shelly.

The pictures tell the story today – lots of happy snaps.

And Toby (swimmer of the day!!) – check out his cool necklace…

Made it back again

Dangerous current. Dangerous man (but we couldn’t do it without him !)

See you all next week.

Proposed 10km swim on a Saturday to be advised.
Note: Swimmers for 10km are required to bring their own food and drink requirements to be left at Manly.

Cool necklace on SotD Toby, but a word of caution. It only takes one head-on with another swimmer for a hand to be tangled in it and it will be lost. 🙁

Some thoughts for the 6km & 10 km swims. Is 7am too late a starting time?
The sun is up at 5:30am so the UV index is already creeping up before we’re halfway through.
With most on-street parking restrictions only going through to 10 am, even a 10km can be completed with a 6am start.
Even move to 6:30am is preferable.
    Thoughts anyone?

Re the 6 and 10 swims probably best to speak with JB. It would be a shame if it started early and not everyone knew.

Great capture of today . 👍🐠 what was the pendant exactly?

For sure, Anne. I just thought I would consult the collective wisdom of B&B to see if there is a groundswell (or ocean swell?) of support for the idea. No point in John changing things just to suit one swimmer….even if that one swimmer is me! 😉

    Looks like a guillotine.
    I’m definitely making sure I don’t have a head-on with Toby.

A very late post: I liked this blog because it focused on individuals as opposed to the masses.

Yes, sometimes the blog focuses on masses of Rainers. I’m certain there’s way more than just one. (A tarting of Rainers perhaps?)
    Thanks, Emma, for the blog.
