101 Bold and Beautiful Swimmers
Below first photo from Duncan W-M….
Good thing he sent it because just about all my photos came out blurry / over exposed this morning!!
There were a couple of whales way past the point this morning – We saw them ‘spouting off’ – You can barely see it in the photo so I put a blue ring around it!! 😀
2 cuties joined us this morning!
Some splashy &#*&%# waves to welcome us in!!!

This blobby seaweed thing is actually a cuttlefish – thanks to Anna for spotting it for me!

Photo from Jules – of Mary’s feet!! Why? Because Mary went flipperless today!!

I think this is the only photo that came out!
Another photo from Jules of a Fiddler Ray!!

Anyone else interested in “going flipperless”? I want to but need other ‘slowies’ without flippers to join me – in fact no flippers – NO wetsuit! Anyone up for it? We will all swim together and tell Jules not to wait for us at Shelly! It will take the pressure off and we can just enjoy our snail like pace! Discuss with me 🙂
Great weather, good conditions in the water – with a lovely wave to bring us in – all we need now is a bit warmer and clearer viz and it would be even more perfect!!
New just in! Conditions so beaut, 007 Mr J Bond and 5 others did a double lap!
See you all tomorrrow!!! Signing off: Lesley 😀
Water Temp: Still over 18!!
Air Temp: 18!!!
Sunrise: 6.10 am
Sunset: 7.10pm

Good idea Lesley. I’m sure you’ll have lots of company as people are just bursting to drop their flippers.
There were lots of whales spouting off shore at Manly this morning. Let’s hope they’re just giving us some advanced warning that they’re around and gonna be joining us for a swim tomorrow when the water will be clear enough for us to actually see them 🙂

I will join you Lesley and Sharon but Lesley you are actually quite fast. I was actually thinking of doing a double soon (with short fins) as I so want to be in the first column!! Will slowies join me??

Lesley, you’ll be fine without fins! I’d offer to join you but I am already slower than practically everyone and I’m already not wearing fins! I’ll just keep my normal pace and I’m sure you’ll shoot past me!

Just want to thank the person who found my goggles this morning and left them on the ramp. I thought my swim was over for the day and was heading home when I spotted them.
And Lesley – good idea regarding the fins but not so sure on discarding the wetsuit just yet !

Hi Elaine, Lesley, Sharon & Rainer,
How about double on Sunday without fins – a super slowie double, sight-seeing and blog tarting as we go? I’m choosing Sunday so Rainer can keep me company as I don’t trust you speedo girls:-)
As for the wetsuit….. if it stays like this, maybe – that’s if I see Lesley’s no longer shivering at the end of her swim!!

I cant wait to drop my wetsuit …..need to show off my new tattoo AND my new B&B swimmers!!!!
Roll on warmer water.
BTW cant make Sunday as the tattoo is still healing (2 weeks) …be back in the water next week AND love the idea of the double!!!

Paige, I’ve not seen you once since our return, but so glad you and Elaine were there to help give the red carpet treatment to Jules yesterday on our one rest day…
Much as I might have my eye on your place no 65 (now poor Jalna has been sandwiched between Jon & I at 66), I would much rather have your company, so pls do come tomorrow or Sun for the slow double – you can help pull my feet if I get cramp again as you so kindly did once before in mid-ocean:-)

I’m usually the last out of the water, so happy to have more slowies tagging along with me! Little Sarah, I’m either going to swim tomorrow or Friday, so if you are around would be keen to try a double.
Need someone to have a camera with us on the double though so we can blog tart like crazy at Shelly!

I’m in!!! Super slowie double on Sunday. Need to accelerate my ascent in the PC table…
3rd column, here I come! 🙂
PS: The wetsuit stays. That extra bit of buoyancy and comfort is still non-negotiable I’m afraid.

Rob, tomorrow I’m booked for a single with Rainer followed by an interview with Anna as a representative of the White-Haired Elite Group.
Friday, we could give it a go – I know some short-cuts too:-) Agreed, we’ll need to blog tart for inspiration for leg 4!

Lesley will be shivering for quite sometime, especially after she starts doing doubles without fins, so we’ll be keeping our wetsuits til mid-summer, I reckon:-)
3rd column is nice – you do one swim and jump a few heads, unlike the competitive top of the 2nd column. Enjoy it while it lasts….

Oh yes, our beautiful exclusive whale badge. It really is lovely and well worth having 🙂

Yay, more non-flipper swimmers! Welcome one and all! See you on Friday.

Shivering is good for you remember, burns more calories so you can eat more chocolate! Now if you guys are keeping your wetties on for doubles I should be allowed 1 flipper?
Lesley

The only reason I am “fast” is because I wear flippers…once they off I am last in…. And I am not being modest 🙂 so that’s great everyone wants to join in. Not sure about a double though…it’s too cold… Just there and back? But it has to be no flippers and no wetsuit…. And we keep each other company. We could just go to half way and back?? Yeah??? Set the date…. Any day good for me 😀

Lesley, I just joined and am definitely on the slow end of things but trying to do this without flippers as well. I am a HUGE fan of swimming in a group and today swam with my friend to have a buddy (we were the last ones into Shelley today) so quite happy to have a ‘slow’ group going, fins or no fins.

Ahem.. Just a little aside. I notice some reference to jumping up the PC with doubles? You only get recognised for the one swim even if you triple!
When the bolderdash and 10 and 6k swims start, you get recognised for them as they are ‘official’.
This is how it has always been. Should it change???

Nude (feet) swimming was lovely today! So very nice to not have sand in the fins while waiting at Shelly. Sarah, Lesley, et al very happy to join in a slowies double on Friday or Sunday!! And I have a camera if you would like to capture some serious blog tarting 😀 Hey, maybe there should be a special Blog Tart award (or badge). . .

No worries, saw the goggles looking pretty lonely on the waters edge, glad you found them on the ramp 🙂

I think double points (and a badge) for the super slowies but no change for the regulars like you, Michael:-)

Do u wetsuiters realise how much faster u are with them on?? Even without flippers you will be in the ‘lead’! :-P. Anyway the idea is to give it a try without the pressure to get to shelly…so I reckon a return to halfway is best yeah?? Tho am happy to wait till it’s warmer? And Michael is right once the big swims start those who do it fly up the PC columns and I soon get knocked off my top 10 position! 🙁

Awww…there was I getting carried away thinking doubles counted as 2 swims! Not sure if I want to do one now! Might do tomorrow flipper less with Aly, Lesley and any others and wettie-less. Might do a double on Sunday…

Love a good project manager! 🙂
Can I add blog-tarting to the Sunday double please?

Slow? You think you think you are slow? I’m so slow the divers use me as a marker buoy

Doubles and triples have never counted as extras.

ha ha, i thought you must get extra points for extra laps…I have been coming for 12 whole months now and Midge is about a bazillion miles ahead of me. If I were to do ten 10k swims I still wouldn’t catch her, and I would have to do 37 to catch YOU Michael! Whats the secret? Were there some 100km swims I missed out on?

Now I understand why I’m slow. Flipper-less, wetsuit-less from the first day I joined 🙂
Anyway, I think I’m done with that bloody cold so hopefully I’ll join you tomorrow. Can’t wait!

I dont think I can go flipperless – remember I am armless at the mo so you guys all have the benefit of using those too! See you in the water soon!
