This photo sums up the swim today for me. Fun, rough, rolly and exciting… Exhilarating, murky and challenging… Always worth getting outta bed for!
First light at 6am was so beautiful…
Little Sarah and Jill got up early to do the 5.50am Bolderdash today with Inez and Shaun but although very bold decided it was too choppy so decided on the safer option.
The sun rose directly above Shelly at 6.10am.Â
Â
This is Storchy of Storchy Booty Camp fame and one of our youngest B&Bers Jess…
Only 25 on the 6.30am Drinks Express (compared to 40 yesterday.)
Jenny K is back from Switzerland so she gets a hug from Bruce. Amish Lesley photobombs on their left!
We get to look at the new Surf Club womens showers. $500 for Social Members to join the club but you still have to bring your 20 cents pieces!
The surf is big today but most of us still opt to go from the beach. Bella looks worried. Peter looks happy to be taking care of these beautiful damsels!
It took a while to get out but there’s a great feeling of achievement when you get to The Point in conditions like this!
Rock n rolly all the way over to Shelly but it felt like a real ocean swim. (Even if we did swallow loadsa water and have to dodge seaweed and dead mutton birds!)
Rusty had invited everyone to see how many could fit in his shower today after the swim so we all rushed to get back!
Still a bit clear in spots so spotted a few yellowtail.
I had to organise an ‘inclusive’ hot shower at Rusty’s. (Not just hot, young women) so got out at Halfway. I managed to time my exit well but poor Rainer had a shin on collission with the metal stairs.Â
Poor Rainer, his leg was really gashed and pouring with blood. It looked much worse than this photo shows and he had to go to Emergency to get it checked out. I walked him up the hill so sorry Rusty didn’t get back in time to get all the swimmers to squeeze in to your shower!
Tuesday’s conditions were so different so might just include a couple of photos from then including Sparkles and John 007 doing the chicken dance underwater…
Mauricio, the free diver who makes the most amazing videos. Check this one out here.http://youtu.be/sEwg3W6pq94
And just a few showing the beautiful fish you can see when the water is clear. Don’t let today’s conditions put you off anyone as tomorrow it could be flat, calm and clear once again…
But every swim is different and that’s what we love about these B&B swims. The ocean is unpredictable, each swim brings new challenges. Today was choppy waters, dead mutton birds and getting out of the water safely. We know our injured Rainer will be back and we wish him all the best.
To end on a light note. Here are Kelly and Dr John showing my Water Temperature Charts!
A bag containing lots of stuff including a pink cap was left in changing room. Shauny is looking after it. (see LSA’s comment on blog comments). Dr John shows it below with DWSS.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring? See you tomorrow folks!

Love the varied blog!
So relieved to hear Lips is stiched up and doing well. Clearly not enough practise at Half Way exits….
I knew Lainey would kindly share the moment – Will it still be ‘Lips’ after this?
Perhaps the next B&B clothing item should be pink shin guards for the Half Way steps. Or perhaps we could cover the steps in pink bandages….

The swim school on November 30 is great value – it goes for 13.5 hours and introduces everybody to night swimming as well as day swimming. Unfortunately Polish Princess and I will be in New York.

Let’s nip the rumors in the bud. It was not a Great White that attacked me. My memory is patchy but I’d say it was a large male Bull shark.
Thanks Elaine for walking me home. I know how much you were looking forward to Rusty’s shower party. In honor of your sacrifice I decided to name the scar after you..
And thanks to Manly hospital who happily stitched back together so many of us over the years. Honorary pink caps in my book!

Amish Lesley, great blog, so much better than E-laines Thursday blogs!
Can always tell your style.
Lips that cut looks a bit ookey-pookey and icky-wicky, hope all ok and the missus lets you swim with us again.
Lucky such a clean day and no pollution to get infection from……..
Heal quick!

oh man SUCH an overeaction – I heard from Dr John’s mates at the hospital they put 1 tiny stitch in just to keep you happy… it was really just a band aid it needed ;-D
What I really want to know is how it really happened???

BAG FOUND IN LADIES’ CHANGING ROOM!
Unless I’m out of touch and the owner came by Manly Wine after I left and was reunited with the bag (in which case, ignore the ramble), there is a mystery bag, full of the usual paraphernalia including a pink cap now being stored in Shaun’s car!
If it belongs to you, boot-camp and Shaun can be found at 6 a.m. on the beach, I believe. He’ll be the one sitting to the side-lines, admiring the press-ups of the seriously Bold & Beautiful!

Yes, a tad inconsiderate of that Bull shark – a group of us were waiting at Manly Wine for Elaine to escort us to the shower party upstairs. Rusty had even laid out heated towels, shampoos, chocs and coffee for us all.
Never mind, Rusty…..thanks for the effort. Just a dress-rehearsal for the real party next time…

Let me put it this way Lesbubbles:
If you’re half way up the stairs and you turn around and see a big wave coming your way, dont simply hold on to the rails and let the wave wash over you. No matter how cool you think this would look to bystanders and blog cameras.
The nurses were most impressed by the part where i punched the bull shark right between the eyes to make him let go of me.

Rainer was so brave, that chunk taken out of his leg and the blood flow would have made less bold mortals cry or call an ambulance. He insisted on trudging home with his wound. Hope you get better soon Rainer. Think you should think about joining Storchy’s Booty Camp. They need a token male they were saying.
I’ll put the photo of the lost bag on the blog now.
A bit sad to miss out on fitting the most swimmers in to Rusty’s shower. Can we try for next Thursday?

Oh, Rainer, that looks TERRIBLE. I hope you heal up quickly soon, must have really hurt.
Only two lemurs this morning and we saw a shark in the gloom.
We were also following by a little velvety brown shearwater. I thought for a second when I saw it that it was a DOG. So weird.

A few facts to set the record straight!
Yes, I do sit to the side after the torture sets have been completed.
Yes, we do need a token elderly male to make us look good.
Yes, I was given a bag stolen from the change room.
Yes, it did have a female costume in it.
Yes, if you find a naked female wondering around Manly, please direct her to me. I have her bag.
Yes, I did see Lippy stager out of the boat shed at 3am today with a Bockwurst in one hand and the A lister plastic surgeon under the other arm.
Yes, I did hear a slurred “that’s brilliant Doc, ill do that, ill pretend to hurt myself and that will cover for the intensive botox treatment. ” Rainer, Lippy, you are Goooooood.
