17/08/19: What cold change? Only sunshine for the birthday gal!

Happy birthday to blogger  extraordinaire, Lainey, who celebrates her XXX (<- insert number here) birthday today! She received a good birthday singing and splashing from the crowd before yelling ‘Lets Go!’ and racing back for tea!

 

 

 

We were a bit worried about the supposed cold change that was due to come through but no sign of it here this morning –  an idyllic start to a beautiful swim!

 

Rays were pouring through as people were chatting & either preparing for or finishing up their swim! As some of the 6.30’s walked back up the ramp, I set out to take the best photo ever of them with sun in the background blue sky etc but one of the swimmer’s Matt said “there’s nothing good about photos of over 50 year old men in swimmers!” 😆  -so i didnt get the photo! Next time!

Pre swim prep and warm ups! Mary donned her wetsuit today- first time in ages! Very wise given she has been sick.

Although  the sun was out and shining, it was still a little chilly getting into the water!

Gino was snapped taking a quick break on the way to Shelly! Gino used to blog. Rainer wants to get him back into blogging but Gino lives ‘miles away’. Not nearly as far as our fearless leaders, Ian and John, who are down here each morning, but miles away nevertheless! 😆

Almost back on the beach I realised I hadn’t taken any underwater photos! Can’t have a blog without underwater photos! Clare very kindly posed for me in the shallows! Thanks Clare!

 

 

Luckily Gillian had been paying attention to the sea life this morning and not gasbagging all the way to Shelly and back! She kindly let me use the great photo she took of the cuttlefish for the blog!  Thanks Gillian!

 

 

On the way up the ramp after our glorious (even if a tad chilly) swim, who should we bump into sitting on the new steps, grinning from ear to ear and quite unashamedly sunning herself? None other than Ed, today’s usual blogger who was ‘not able to blog today’  hence reason why I’m filling in! Now Ed, if you are going to ‘chuck a sicky’ you don’t turn up to a concert and get yourself on camera and projected onto the big screen! 😂
