Did you hear the sea this morning? The waves were not huge, but the sea was demanding attention from those on shore. It was ever so loud in the steely grey dawn.
The weekend crowds are thinning. Surely, it’s not because the water temperature has dropped to 19.3 or that the outside temperature was a fresh 12 degrees?

It must be the tough stance taken by management (actually just JK) in banishing the ‘blue book’. Yes, dear luddites, the tick is no more. B&B has taken another step towards carbon neutrality with further reduction to its use of paper products.

Anne shows her playful side, as Mr Bond dodges the camera.

Wetsuits begin to dominate once more as we make the long pink march to the sea.

Playful waves toss us as we make our way to the point.

In the absence of the sun itself, sunny smiles are beaming at the point.

The mass of pink caps above thankfully was not reflected in the number of ‘pink caps’ below. The scourge of winter swimming is making an appearance – the nasty jimble!

Ted shows his scar from a jimble sting three years ago. I really don’t like these sea critters.

However, we are brave ocean swimmers ready to face the return journey.

Corrine was bowled over by a rogue wave at Shelly – bet she thought it was a joke when someone called ‘wave!’…

Visibility is very low with just the bright yellow of the yellow tails visible on the return. (I hear they eat juvenile jimbles – got to love yellow tails. . )

Here is Ed doing his bit for the fundraising cake stall to benefit the earthquake victims in Nepal. And as always Elaine gives her time and energy.

Can I tell you, I had the best banana crepe – a super treat with coffee post swim.
Did you lose a watch? Perhaps it looked like this? CJK and he will reunite owner and timepiece.

Have a great Saturday.
Mary
The really interesting stuff
Winter badge season starts in 16 days!!
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Lovely blog as usual Mary. Sorry to have missed the swim – AND the cake stall – but was needed for early soccer duties. Great fun, though.

As always a great blog Mary – excellent text and photos. It was nice in the water today but I also saw a jimble maliciously swimming toward me. Great effort Anna Elaine and Ian doing fund raising for the people of Nepal – good on you

Love your blog Mary!
Thanks to all of you who supported the cake/pancake/slice/Biltong stall for Nepal today. Anna has just posted that we made $772 which is fantastic. Dr Ray is out there btw helping earthquake victims this time. What an amazing man.
Thank you too to those of you who donated to my Running for Ruth cause. Her story was on page 7 of The Manly Daily yesterday and also in Daily Telegraph. We have now raised over $10,000 towards that electric wheelchair woop whoop!

I L.O.V.E that low-sea horizon shot, Mary. The two pinks caps with sun behind them … you always capture something like this 🙂

Great blog Mary!
And well done on everyone who baked and ate for Nepal.
Thanks Ed for donating money to me so I could donate it to Nepal. Is the money tax deductible for both of us now, or would that constitute double dipping?
