15/06/14 We’re football crazy, we’re football mad!

15/06/201416

Well maybe we’re not, but let’s go a little World Cup on blog day. ESPECIALLY AS MY HOME COUNTRY ARE PLAYING RIGHT AFTER OUR SWIM!

Re-cap on yesterday’s swim, probably the fastest as everyone rushed to breakfast places and pubs around Manly to settle in for the Australian game.

Today…..some of us turn up very Patriotic.

The same today! Quick swim, quick turnaround at Shelly and quick change and in front of the TV! And it wasn’t because we are getting colder as the temperatures descend.

This morning, we turn up to cooler than average temperatures. Beautiful scenery but 18.1 degrees in the water ….brrrrr…..

This is a great time of year, to cuddle up with friends.

Or rock up in your dressing gown!

These two are in a rush…..

Rushing off to watch the match?

Quick pose ….

Rushing to get in the water ….

These are rushing at Shelly.

Let’s go!

And we’re off to the game!

Feel good about getting out of bed in the Winter months? Well you do know it’s all for a badge?

Swim 20 times, over 7 different weeks in Winter and the Cold&Bold Badge (for $10) is yours! I’m excited already and bloody cold – due to the idea of getting a WWW badge. Yep, swim 20 swims without wetsuit and a second badge (for another $10) is yours!

To check how many swims you need to go, the Winter Badge spreddy is now up and running. Check here:

Check the link and see who you are beating in the Challenge!

Tell your friends at work as you sit there shivering till lunchtime, that it’s all abo
ut a Badge! Nuts!! Well, that’s what my colleagues think of me!

Here’s my line!

Sharon Dunn on target 6 swims / 3 wks, need 14 swims / 4 wks

Shall we see where my friends are?

The Dutch contender who loves to text me at 6:35am telling me she is still in bed (whilst I’m already on my way from Fairlight) doing well at…..

Mariah Veerbeek on target 9 swims / 3 wks, need 11 swims / 4 wks

The token Aussie, who basically lives right next to the beach…..so has no excuse!! Hmm…..

Corinne McDevitt on target 3 swims / 2 wks, need 17 swims / 5 wks

Found this one …..Can we get a check on this entry?

Rainer Noack on target 11 swims / 3 wks, need 9 swims / 4 wks

Monday is the start of week FOUR!

Botty of the BloB 🙂

B&B i-Log

Really if you haven’t been using the B&B i-Log then you must be new!! Almost 75% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster ugoboyo@gmail.com (This is not a link so please copy and paste into your email). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Staying safe

We have had seen the return of some serious waves and rips this past week! Were you prepared? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

My sincere condolences to the England team. The players took defeat really well.
Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser.
Scotland didn’t make it to the World Cup but Britain may lose Scotland in September when it gets independence …… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here ………… England lost to Italy, let’s savour the moment 🙂

For the record I saw x 4 dusky whaler sharks on the way to Shelly at 7.15. Usual spot just past the pool on the edge of the weed
