14/11/2015 – Who’s New at Bold & Beautiful – WELCOME !!!

14/01/201530

Whilst I am relatively new to Bold & Beautiful, having only swum through a single winter and enjoyed the company of Silky the dolphin only once,  I am thinking that I can almost call myself a “regular”.

Yet what got me thinking the other morning was all the new swimmers that are now enjoying the Bold & Beautiful Swim Squad.

Some have only swum Manly to Shelley return once, twice or less than a handful of times and this blog is dedicated to you !!!!

All of the follwing avid swimmers have swum five or fewer times, yet have loved it so much that they are back for more.

This mornings roll call for new swimmers to the Bold & Beautiful Swim Squad;

Raki & Katrina.

Chantelle & Ann.

The smart money was on “halfway” today.

Astrid.

Not sure how this photo made the cut as these swimmers are all hard core from way back.

Maybe its because thay all just look great, having made the BnB swim a “thing”.

I could not let this image hit the cutting room floor either, even though it was way off subject … everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves, maybe it was their swim, maybe it was the sunshine, maybe it was the coffee, maybe it was the conversation.

One day soon, I am going to join in all the fun on the benches.

To all of the new swimmers to the Bold & Beautiful Swim Squad … WELCOME !!!

David

Bold & Beautiful in Numbers

New Swimmers – yes.

Swimmers – 85.

Water Temperature – 22.2.

    Great blog David!
Yesterday outside the Wharf a stall was giving away samples of the yummiest health foods I have ever tasted! Go to:
    http://www.eatfitkitchen.com.au/
The Bliss Bars are out of this world. I suggested that he might be able to set up the stall outside Manly SLC on Sat. mornings for our indulgence. Does anyone know how he should go about this? Permission from Manly Council or the SLC? Or just do it?

Nice thoughts in today’s blog David. I heard you “call the roll” this morning, and I’m pleased to see all those new smiley folks hitting the headline photos in today’s chapter of B&B.

Hi Jane, maybe they could provide a sample stall at the benches this Saturday … by friends, for friends … doesn’t sound commercial at all to me, hence no need to ask permission from anyone.

You must come to the Benches for coffee Dave. Thanks for dedicating the blog to newbies and thanks for blogging for me. Had to pick up my parents from the airport this morning so missed the swim! It looks beautiful too!

Good stuff, David – Yes, there are hundreds of people each week … all deserving of blog space.
Confession: I saw the brown surf at 6.55 am today – and drove off to a cafe instead.
Very poor effort I know! Am having trouble getting back into the dawn routines, after a week down coast …

Great blog!! I remember when Brad and I were new and we somehow accidentally managed to make it to the Point without pink caps, only to be scolded for this when we arrived haha. We loved the abuse so have been coming back ever since 🙂
Elizabeth, here’s the link to the pocket towels:http://www.myhouse.com.au/beach/blink-pocket.html

Hi Roger, don’t stay away too long, you may just have to hand in your pink cap. See you tomorrow or Friday.

Hi David really great blog and fab subject. I hope some of those newbies become regulars and our wonderful circle of friends at B&B grows even larger. I am a last winter newbie myself and wasnt lucky enough to swim with Silky but B&B is entrenched as a big part of my life now. Just wish I made it every single morning! See you at the benches for coffee tmrw – my shout
Lucy thanks for the link they look great. Say hello to bub from Aunty Lizzie!!! Just one of the 50 new aunts and uncles who can’t wait to meet her soon 😀

Hi Elizabeth … thank you. I am hoping so.
I agree with your thoughts. Once you swim 3 or more times a week, you seem to miss it if you don’t swim, which is great. Elizabeth will join you for coffee tomorrow and if ok with you, maybe you could introduce me to a few people.

That’s a really good idea David. I’ll try and get in touch, though sadly can’t be there myself (off to Hobart for 10 days on Friday). So you can relax Lips – I won’t be able to chase you for a while……

Hi Elizabeth, apologies .. I was so looking forward to the swim and the post swim coffee on the benches with you, yet alas, domestic duties won out this morning and the best I could do was simply imagine the swim & the coffee. Apologies for that, yet I am back in the swim Friday, so will look out for you tommorrow at the benches. David

Hello David, Jane and the B&B team!
Chris from Eat Fit Kitchen here, thanks to Jane for the plug, so glad you enjoyed our snacks and I look forward to sharing them with you all.
I am booked in for a tasting elsewhere this Saturday morning but perhaps we could do another weekend?
Incidentally, we have signed up to provide breakfast to you all in February as part of the Red Feb swim for Heart Foundation so I’m sure we will meet you all soon.
    Cheers

    Hello B&B team,
A short update on my comment above.
I’ve just been informed by Carol Hanna from Heart Research Australia that the council rates are proving prohibitive for the breakfast stand on the 14th of Feb.
Do you know of anyone at Manly SLSC that they may be able to speak with?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris
