85 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

enjoy another stunning Friday morning swim

Calm seas, clear skies, just a minor problem with the thermostat, which you wouldn’t think from looking at the pictures !

Lots of swimmers are making the most of these beautiful conditions, enjoying early laps and post laps every day.  So please feel free to join in and ramp up some extra distance ready for those looming 6km and 10kms summer badges… 😉

See you all tomorrow for Ben’s last swim with us before he leaves to take on the English Channel solo tomorrow, 15th September !  So
please
come down to create a farewell good luck ring for Ben to be surrounded
by at the point as we wish him farewell and all the best of luck for a
successful channel
crossing.

News on Collie’s crossing: there is a small chance he may get the opportunity to go this Sunday, if not it will hopefully be Tuesday.  Thankfully James has been able to extend his holidays for another week so he will be there with Collie.

Please come down for a B&B
swim this Sunday morning, regular time of 7am, to be part of a photo shoot for a
Telegraph commercial 🙂

Also the Manly Relay for Life starts tomorrow at 2pm, where 15 of us are
participating in a B&B team to walk for 18 hours around Keirle Park to raise funds and awareness for cancer
research.
So please come down any time to keep us company, enjoy the fancy dress… or if you’d like to sponsor us please do so here

Check out the Manly Daily today, page 9, or online here

James is recovering well and is due home tomorrow !  In the meantime he hasn’t forgotten us, taken from his hospital bed…  Brilliant James, great to see you looking so well 🙂

Happy birthday to Jan Beacham today 🙂

James Pittar is celebrating 20 years of The Fred Hollows Foundation by swimming 20kms, with 20 swimmers, to raise $20k !!

Some of you may know James Pittar, he’s a blind guy who has completed many challenging marathon ocean swims.  James is a local guy, living in Seaforth with his wife and daughter.  James is undertaking a huge swim solo from Collaroy-Manly on Sunday 23rd
September to raise money for the Fred Hollows
Foundation.

Yep that’s right; a blind swimmer, swimming offshore, to raise money to bring sight to others !!  James
has organised this himself with very limited support.  19 swimmers, including a couple of B&B swimmers, Fiona and Oliver, have already signed to help James with a
commitment of raising $1,000 each and joining James in final 2kms of his swim from
Shelly to Queenscliff, finishing at North Steyne.

James has said he would dearly lovely to also be accompanied by an additional sea of pink B&B caps, following on behind for those last 2kms !  James plans to arrive into Shelly Beach at 11.30am, conditions permitting.  So if all interested swimmers could please arrive at Shelly by 11am in order to join James in the water at 11.30, hopefully arriving at North Steyne SLSC ~12.30pm where the Foundation and North Steyne SLSC will have a BBQ ready to feed all hungry swimmers !

Hope to see many of you there.

Also, if you would like to donate to James’ efforts and support this great cause, please do so here at James’ fundraising page.

Denise is still enjoying swimming her way around the beautiful Islands of Italy, in water temperatures of 26 degrees, currently in Marettimo near Sicily.
