13/7/13 – Vote 1 B&B in September!

13/07/201318

Yes! You heard it first on the Blog.. B&B will run for The Lodge in Canberra in the September Federal Election as we have been able to do what neither of the major parties has been able to do for years, and here it is, people of Australia:

Yes.. Tony and Kevin – We have stopped the boat!

It was a slightly chilly 8.3c this morning out of the water and the wetsuit fashion was in full swing..

Sometimes you wouldn’t believe you were about to get in the water. Some little people obviously were happy they didn’t have to….

Some of us a are just hardcore..

Today we were joined by Bob Binstead…. who has completed 14 swims of his winter badge so far.

There are only 49 days of Winter left and 67 people have already qualified, with a further 685 on target!
There was a bit of nervous clock watching…

We have been a bit slack getting into the water on time lately.. the “management” have asked that we please get our butts in the water at 7am promptly as the group at the point is like a finely tuned F1 car engine – you can’t leave it sitting on the starting grid too long!

The water was beautiful – 17.6c and flat as…

The colour co-ordination was outstanding! ..and so was the clowning…

This is what we get out of bed for…

The swim over to Shelley was superb! Visibility was pretty good..

This is how you prevent hypothermia….

 Jalna did the honours

The water was clear enough to see our underwater friends again…

Jane ..some juvenile somethings for you….

This wobbie was frolicking in the weeds..

The Seargeant was doing a disappering act…

Some old friends..

Lindsay Glover and her husband, Richard sent in this pic of their very cute daughter, who went swimming for the first time in the Cook and Phillip pool, and then came down to see us all this morning as well! Congrats guys .. gorgeous!

This is Lexie, who is in Long Beach CA. That’s her on the left….
I’m thinking of starting a charity to enable her to come out to Australia. I will swim for the remainder of winter without a wetsuit to raise the price a a plane ticket… who’s with me boys?

Stats:

Swimmers: 202!

Newbies: 5!

Water 17.6c

Sunrise: 6:58am

Sunset: 5:03pm

Staying safe

With the return of the winter swell,
remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it
is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your
limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To

6.59ers disappointed to have lost the keep the boat vote – we rely on it for half-way resuscitation, coffee breaks and finding lost sheep!
The fish tried to blog bomb in on the fashion parade (and old wobbie did score 3 on the spreddie), but no match for the B&Bs.
Look forward to welcoming you in the sea, Baby Glover and Lexie. Feel free to bring Teddy and Floatie along with you!

Yeh, Binsy – great to see you back in person!
It’s been great of Quantas to allow you to jet in from all over the world to do a Storchy-style “tick-and-dash”, but look forward to seeing the pics of you with us at Shelly as you collect the rest of your WWW points.
(Alternatively, if it’s just too complicated, speak to Lips or me about Winter bargain point package deals!)

Well said LSA. I for one mourn the loss of the Tardis. Secret meeting point of the 6:59ers and favorite backdrop of blog tarts old and new.
Nick, great blog once again. Did anyone claim the balls?

Nick great blog, truly you’re an athletically gifted linguist in a writers body!
Thanks for featuring Robby Binstead. Robby and I had a quick chat this morning after the swim over at the Manly Pacific over coffee and although Robby said he’ll always turn the other cheek, I know he was upset by disbelievers in his existence and those that question his integrity in the swims and WWW.
I think he’s had enough of the cheap shots and tall poppy stuff, so lets be all embracing and give him a break.
    Thanks Guys!
    its good to validate his

Shaun and John, thanks for your support.
The derogatory comments are like water off a ducks back!
It just makes me even keener and more focussed to get my WWW!
    See you both tomorrow.
    Pink Caps rocks!

The “missing” boat, Tardis, was spotted anchored on the harbour side near Manly Sea Life Sanctuary (formerly Ocean World). No one has been spotted aboard however.

Great fish pics Nick! (as usual). Interesting little striped fish with an eye-spot swimming with the Hulafish – did you get any more pics of it Nick? I can’t ID it.
