Welcome to the Winter badge ceremony! Today, we had everything going on; cake stalls, raffle tickets, B&B clothing and of course BADGES!
This year, must have been the biggest turn out for badges a whopping 324 people swam 20 times in Winter (over 7 different weeks). A further 154 gained a WWW badge too, for swimming in Winter without a wetsuit!
I did my strategic swimming and managed to get 21 in to gain my badge, but this year I wimped out on the WWW.
The B&B merchandise looked fantastic in all its glorious colours.
Lovely to see John Bryant here today, back and well.
The sun basked swimmers as they entered the water.
Here’s Rainer trying to get some swimming tips from members of the A team.
A small entourage gathered around Jane and a rather unfortunate PJ. Jane explained that It had just delivered an egg somewhere, and so when one life ends….another one begins.
Speaking of sharks …..Rainer displayed his latest feel good t-shirt.
8am, and we all headed to the grounds of Royal Far West.
The queues w
ere massive today!
The B&B hoodies were selling like, well, like the great hoodies they are!
The cake stall made a whopping $294.55!
Shaun was seen loitering close to the cakes ……only one bacon and egg roll Shaun.
The raffle tickets proved popular! Was it because I was selling them, or did we have some great prizes? 😉
We made $901 in raffle money for RFW! Rumour has it that Roger is still holding onto a book, with the ladeeezzzz phone numbers in ?!?! 😉
Big thanks to Gareth, who became the blog photographer while I helped out today.
Soon, we were onto calling out names, coming up to pick up our badge(s) and getting our kisses too!
Cameron saw a great opportunity and linked raising money for the Nepalese earthquake victims, to getting to his 20 swims. Well done Cameron.
Nick decides on where to sew his badges. (Nick your badge is upside down).
Rainer thought he was picking up his badge for ‘most photographed man’ someone had to exp
lain, it actually related to swimming, not blog tarting.
….and John joined us to pick up his badge too.
Congratulations to those who won in the raffle, Guy Dunstan took home a case of local NSW wines as first prize, and MC won the toy box, which he quickly donated to the children who had turned up today.
What a great day for all, and some great fund raising for RFW!
Stats: swimmers – 210, newbies – 11, water temp 19.5

All of we badge recipients are worthy heroes (& heroines?) today and for some like Ed who came back and got his badges despite a massive op mid-winter it was an even more inspirational effort. Sad to see the demise of the PJ which is probably one so many of us have enjoyed observing and communing with regularly. Hopefully the bub will thrive and make CTB home and our interaction can go on

Thankyou to all the helpers at the Badge Ceremony – especially to the cooks at the barbecue who served up all those delicious bacon and egg buns to the longest queue in history, AND cleared it all up afterwards.

Thanks Snorks. Great multi-tasking as raffle girl and Sunday blogger.
And big thanks to everyone who helped behind the scenes. Personally, I would have liked more time for acceptance speeches. Overall, a great badge ceremony nonetheless.
Shaun had three bacon and egg rolls.

Excellent blog Snorkles covering all the morning’s events with your usual wit and humour. Great to see so many swimmers getting their first B&B badge too! Let it spur you on to get your 6km and 10km badge in the Summer. (If I can do it anyone can.)
