13/05/2013 – The Fear of Dismemberment by a Saltwater Crocodile is Lessened by the Availability of National Healthcare

13/05/201318

111 Bold & Beautiful swimmers swam inside a technicolour ranibow this morning. I was lucky to be early enough to grab this photo of the 22 early lappers as they entered the water at Manly beach

One of our lovely swimmers from America, Lauren Gianino is sadly leaving us very soon. On Saturday night while under the influence of some alcohol we decided that she should do the blog on Monday as a goodbye pressie to the group…..over to Lauren! (With a little help from me!)

Here I am handing over control to Team America….

Caroline, Claire, and these two friendly fellows are excited to swim today!

Only these hard core Aussies swim sans wetsuit in the cold!

Russell, a cool English cat who is soon to be an Australian citizen!

The most beautiful part of the day….

What could be better than swimming with your friends? They don’t even seem to notice the cold! (Hi to Tash below who was one of our youngest swimmers today!)

My wonderful neighbor, Michelle, who welcomed me to B and B when I first arrived. She is wishing her rotund cat, Billy, could join us. He gracefully declined.

A happy group of swimmers, blissfully unaware of the school of poisonous eels beneath them, hence the ripples in the water.

What a lovely way to start a Monday!

The legendary Nigel and Corinne, and a strange girl with a cord attached to her neck….

Thank you so much for the great memories! I will never forget hopping off that plane from America and getting straight into the water with such a welcoming and kind group of people. I feel incredibly fortunate to have met such passionate ocean dwellers. You have made my stay in Australia a keen adventure! I feel so honored to have been a part of Bold and Beautiful! Remember, you always have a friend to swim with across the ocean in the Land of Plenty!

Signing off,

The Amicable Axolotl

Lauren

JUST ADDED a couple more pics from Stephen Coulter below! The Blue Groper Lauren was trying to photograph and also Tash & Richard getting to Shelley!

**Join us TOMORROW for drinks at Murrays……the
Murray’s night out is a great time to catch up with your fellow BnB’ers.**

Please note that drinks at Murray’s is on WEDNESDAY NIGHT, from 6.30 pm, NOT tomorrow night as previously advertised. Looking forward to seeing everyone there for Happy Hour drinks. Don’t forget that Murray’s also gives 10% discount on food when you show your B and B discount card.

That big blue groper was magnificent! Such an amazing colour: and note that it is only the male gropers that are this colour.

Does that mean you’re actually going to swim with us occasionally or just continue putting on an Old & Bold cap and ticking in after a half-hearted few strokes towards the point? Seems a few people are noticing the habit these days:-)
As for Storchy, I keep telling you that a jog to Shelly and a look at the water is not a swim!!
VACANCIES for the new Integrity Police. Those who’ve held these roles before need not apply!!!

OK. Someone had to ask. What is it with the title? Is there supposed to be something deep and meaningful that I have completely missed? or is it just a piece of meaningless Irish frippery? Please explain!

Thanks, mates! The title is a reference to Americans’ misconceptions about dangerous sea life! I told them I was not concerned because of the accessibility of affordable hospitalisation in the event of getting too close to the crocodiles : )
