Ever notice how there seems to be more money, more information, more technology… More ability to do, know and communicate. More of everything, including dissatisfaction.
More is a pretty strong narrative. Society as we know it today has been built upon getting more. Unfortunately the story of needing to bring more to ourselves leaves little space to appreciate more from ourselves.
Perhaps this is why our morning swim is so satisfying. It’s about less.
From our waking moment, to diving into the ocean we are peeling of the more-ish cage of comfort. We leave our house behind, our car behind, leave our technology behind. We even leave most of our clothes behind.
At each of these steps, we rely less on things and more on ourselves. Until finally we leave our day-to-day environment behind and enter the waves. Contact with the water serving to further heighten our sense of self.
Our current experience becomes distilled down, leaving a void so polarising that it flips the narrative of more-from-without, to open space into a different story. One in which we can expand our sense of satisfaction at finding more from within.
