The work year may have kicked in, but there were 194 regulars plus 12 newbies who today held on to that summer holiday feeling.

With all the publicity of last week behind us, the routine has returned. The John’s confer on the number of regular swimmers STILL not using the login in,

then there is the general hub bub that so many people create as they fossick for goggles, cap, fins, and the return of the Bolderdash and Dinks Express.

And we were joined by Kye and Ingrid from the Blue Mountains today!! Hope you enjoyed the swim.

With the water temperature a comfortable 22.1 and no waves we enjoyed great conditions for the Bay crossing.

Mind you the clouds in the background did look dramatic.

Over the weekend I asked a couple of people what they liked best about the blog. Seeing yourself in the pictures was the most frequent response. So, hopefully, if you swam today you can spot yourself in this photo of Shelly!!

An impressive mob don’t you think?
And speaking of mobs, how would you like to be part of a Flash Mob in February? The Friends of Cabbage Tree Bay are looking for approx. 6 swimmers to represent The Bold & Beautiful in a flash mob to promote the message Keep Our Sea Plastic Free.
Samantha Taranto is the coordinator of the event. While only a few wearing the B&B cap are required Samantha added, “The more the merrier if people want to be involved as other characters – as well as pink caps, we need a few more “activists” to hold Keep Our Sea Plastic Free placards and the finale will be a sea creature free for all dance to Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid (but they need to have their own costume) everyone can be involved in this.
These kids were having a ball at the eastern end,

while these bigger kids were having fun at the western end.

A joyful “let’s go” and we were off.

Fish sighting was limited to around the point as the water was much to cloudy to see what was happening below.

Nothing too exotic – just one lone sea horse.

It is important to thoroughly refuel after exercise. By the attendance at the table of knowledge, the table of champions and the table of wisdom these seasoned swimmers have refuelling down pat.

On a more serious note, there have been emails from council, pointing out that we are not allowing a clear passage along the pathway. In a few cases swimmers have either been rude or ignored people (including life guard) when they asked to move. PLEASE, be cognisant of others when gathering in the mornings and ensure other users easy access along the path.
See you in the water

Mary
Flash Mob Information
Our first rehearsal is tonight Monday 13 January at 7pm in the Sunset Bar, Shelly Beach (above the Le Kiosk Cafe). A briefing will be given to everyone at the rehearsal then you can choose what you want to do! The timing of the flash mob is to coincide with the Australian Open of Surfing week 8-15 February so we better get rehearsing!
Please come along or drop the coordinator a line: Samantha Taranto

B&B Attendance Login
Now that the new work year has kicked in, save time and be ever so efficient, by using the B&B Attendance Login way to capture your swims. It’s a smart phone friendly website so no need to download, just mark it as a bookmark. There are so many good reasons to use the B&B Login – like no queues, no need for glasses to find your name, never missing the 7am call, and you have from 5am until 9am to login so you can do it on the bus or ferry on the way to work.
To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.
Summer badge swims
Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.
The next 10km swim is scheduled for 8 February depending on conditions.

I agree that we are now to many in number to just stand around and make prams, bikes and Life Guards negotiate a way through. What would be the problem with moving down towards the benches or knowledge/wisdom/furtive dressers opposite Manly Wine ?
There are showers there too.
Wot dya reckon ?

Good idea Bill. We need to be careful. Just look at the public backlash against QLD outlaw motorcycle clubs. We dont want to go down that path..
Great blog Mary!

Mary, thanks again for another enjoyable blog that chronicles our adventures in paradise. I especially loved the picture of Jasmine Laura and friends. I did the Bolderdash with Nicole and Billy plus James and Gaeton who went on to Freshie. The size of our lap pool must be very large because I missed sighting the other 12 bolderdashers who swam this morning.

Hi Simon,

Hear hear saw lots in the water before and after us one poor sole even fell head over heals at the bottom of the ramp trying to catch the group that went in before six …. Maybe simon was this poor fellow!! .. You dis after all walk right past us all as we were waiting for our last person to arrive. Not nice to nicely accuse others of lying … Especially some of us poor old originals!! And yes terribly offended so proud of myself for doing three bolder dashes in the last few days!!

We have also agreed to provide footage from our pre-dawn flight this morning, to help with enquiries.
Please do not respond to this email address directly as we are out scanning our coastlines.

Those pink capped girls on the boards are just gorgeous! But I didn’t see that seahorse on the water … I hope he didn’t tick-and-run.

Sorry if I offended anyone when I said, “the size of our lap pool must be very large because I missed sighting the other 12 bolderdashers who swam this morning”. I was trying to remind our international audience that our lap pool really is so big that it is easy to miss seeing other swimmers. Indeed last Friday I swam a whole lap to QC alone even though I had seen a group leave ahead of me. Alas, blog communication has its limitations.
I see no need for integrity police as B&B is an inclusive group.
