12/09/13 – The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears or the sea…

12/09/201312

Love this quote I found on the internet. It’s  ‘Are you O.K?’ day today, when we think about reaching out to others as they may be feeling low, very low, and those words might make all the difference…I thoroughly believe  a B&B swim really can lift the spirits so come and join us! 109 people were smiling this morning on this stunning Thursday morning!

Love my pre-swim sunrises! It was at 5.57am this morning but oh so worth getting up early for!

The inaugural Fifi Lemur 6am swim kicked off today with Storchy, Shauny, Fifi and Midge!

The Drinks Express set off at 6.30am with Drinky back from his holidays.

Some graffitti ‘artists’ defaced the Surf Club’s container last night. Hope it had nothing to do with this suspicious looking pair…

Lovely John Hiron is back from ski instructing all Winter. He shows the B&B hoodie that was left behind yesterday. See Ian or Lesley if it’s yours. It has 3 badges too, including a 6km 2012 and 2013 badge.

It’s so light now going in at 7am!

Welcome back Dicey, who hasn’t swam for months and is now 8 months pregnant!

The water is a lot clearer than it has been so it’s a dash to Shelly then a slow, fish hunt on the way back for a few of us!

John Kelly calls the ‘Let’s Go’.

On the way back Toni, Sarah and I are luck enough to  spot wobbegongs, PJs, gropers and a catfish.

Back at The Surf Club and the endorphins have really kicked in!

Marije is back from Holland and brings her gluwein for a post-swim warm-up tipple! (It’s disguised in a cranberry juice bottle!) More tomorrow please Marije!

That’s all from me today. Have a great day everyone!

BnB Charity Friends:

B&B’s charity friends, Royal Far West (RFW), currently have a new campaign associated with a fundraising challenge !!

RFW have a team of 3 athletes who’ve volunteered to compete in the Port Macquarie Half Iron Man on 20th October to raise $10,000 to help bring 35 Indigenous children (kindy to year 4) from Green Hill School in Kempsey to RFW, as they’ve been identified as needing the specialised health services provided here, that they’re unable to receive in their local community.

The money you guys so generously raised for RFW at the B&B ball has been donated directly to this fantastic cause.  So as you can see, something tangible, worthwhile and significant for these country kids will occur thanks to your generosity.

To watch a short video on this challenge click here http://animoto.com/play/Vp4RwVOSzsNRXM83MDlb0g

To learn more about this great cause, donate or help raise awareness please check out their website: http://portmac.gofundraise.com.au

Thanks guys, once again B&B continues to make a positive difference to the lives of so many.

I’m not ok, thanks for asking! 🙂 I had some sort of joints inflammation the last few days, which regretfully kept me bored in bed! Fortunately it’s all gone by now, so I’m looking forward to joining you guys again tomorrow! 🙂 The beautiful sea and a nice relaxing swim with the B&B happy friendly people will surely be good! Thanks for the blog, Elaine! And a lovely day to everyone!

    Lainney Thanks for the plug
PhiPhi Lemur (aka The Thinking Mans Lemur) has ask that I note the lemur conga leaves at 6.00am on Monday, Thursday and Friday and will do so till Xmas (or thereabouts or till it stops).
Stopping at Wobbegong and Port Jackson Stations on the way to Shelley then a track change to Manly…
    All welcome!
Lemurs (i/ˈliːmər/ lee-mər) are a clade of strepsirrhine primates endemic to the island of Madagascar. The word “lemur” derives from the word lemures (ghosts or spirits) from Roman mythology and was first used to describe a slender loris due to its nocturnal habits and slow pace, but was later applied to the primates on Madagascar.

  • That's Lemur, not Llama

Wow, evidently Lemurs multiply via osmosis! Its a miracle!

We only have one flipper and we are co-joined.
When we swim we tend to veer to the left.
Would we b welcome on the PhiPhi Lemur Conga?

I’d like to encourage B&B people to donate to the Racing for the Kids event (see above) if you are at all able to manage it. We want to have a visit from the kids when they come down from Kempsey to Manly in November. I would like to have them do the “Lets Go” at Shelly Beach, and we can race them on the way back to see if they can make it before we do (they will be walking, not swimming – there’s a challenge JP). If possible we want to make this a memorable experience for these kids, while they receive the medical treatment they can’t get at home.
