12/01/14 can’t believe you missed it!

12/01/201416

I’m not sure how many of our 333 swimmers saw the scoop of today’s swim, but being a slow swimmer I was lucky enough to! We’ve had sharks, ships, bull rays and even recently a dolphin …but today, imagine my excitement on finding a rare sight in these parts!

Yes! That’s right…..a penguin! He/She was just playing in the shallows near the point! I spotted him/her rolling about as I swam in. I think this might be a rare one? Closely associated with the pink caps! Jane, any clues? Our 37 new swimmers can feel very lucky that they swam with a penguin today.

Lovely clear skies and a day after some B&B’ers managed a smashing 10km’s, here we all are for a Sunday swim. Today, I thought I might provide some tips on writing a B&B blog, hopefully they come in useful!

Tip One ..Start with the obligatory lovely scenery shot!

Manly at 06:45 …next photo is Manly at 08:45

Tip Two: Catch some of the pre-swim action.

JK meeting our new swimmers.

Ann taking photos of our newbies. Did you know every photo appears on our website, and you can click on the pacific challenge to see how well you are swimming against your friends.

Always some hunk and hunkesses photos are a good idea.

This little lot swim faster than me!

Tip Three: Head down the ramp at 7am

Here’s JK reminding us about waiting at the point.

Be ahead of the pack!

Arty wave and shadow shots can be taken here.

Tip Four Watch out for some swimmers trying too hard to get into a photo……

Tip five: Get a good news story! Angela here is due TODAY! Baby doesn’t seem to mind mum-to-be having a swim before he/she arrives!

Tip Six: if you can’t find a news story, make one up….

Look! Our youngest recruit must have been running late today and left their transport right down on the beach!

At Shelly beach, you have plenty of time to get some awesome pics as we wait for the last swimmer to join us.

Great crowd shots are a must. People love trying to find themselves in these photos.

Great scene shots like this one are also big hits.

Then there’s the photos where people have posed for you…..awesome crowd pleasers.

Getting people muddled up, can be embarrassing! Learn Everyone’s name! All 6000 of them! Here from left to right – Scarlett, Henrietta, Terence and Ronaldo. There you go! I remembered all of them.

Tip Seven: don’t drink and dive.

If you are struggling to get decent shots, there’s always a few of us around with cameras that can help out. These next photos were donated by ‘Sharon’.

A great one, is if you can get people to do something ‘silly’ under the water …just like these two below!

Then there’s the underwater pics.
Tip Eight: pick a lovely clear day.

* on a clear day this next photo may/may not have had a fish in it.

Tip Nine: a photo taken ‘front-on’ of the fishies will win plenty of smiles and comments on the blog.

Tip Ten: Blurry photos are great!

Make sure the object is in centre of the frame too.

There you have it, how to blog…it’s sooooo easy! Have a good day!

Just in…… Annie Larkin has taken the Number One spot. As to what she is number one in…..comment on the bottom of blog please.

Great fun blog Snorkles! Can’t believe I swam but still missed the pink penguin 😉 Lovely photo of Lara and Jazz with all their friends. Great having younger swimmers. Love the shot of Ted drinking and diving too. Nice to have JK back and everyone listened to the quirky, loveable Scouser as everyone waited at The Point!

    OR
    B)the fastest swimmer

In case you noticed the daily attendance shows I did a 6km , Boulderdash and a Manly / Shelley this morning ; I can confirm in the interests of transparency and fair play that I only did a duo Boulderdash with Sabine!. I am getting advice on how to delete the extra swims using the app on my Blackberry. No success so far!

Well done to all the 10 & 6kers yesterday, woo hoo – legends !
How lucky have you guys been recently to enjoy the bay with the beautiful friendly dolphin, I hear she’s having a bit of a stretch out and we can expect to see her over here in a couple of days, thanks for sharing her 🙂

Great to hear about the penguin! 2 or 3 years ago I saw a little penguin swimming in the shallows at S.Steyne when I came behind everyone…. this is the first mention I’ve heard of one since.
Congratulations to all yesterday, especially new 10Kers!

    My records are squeaky clean!
Ask DWSS, he’s been auditing my ticks for years without producing one shred of evidence for illegal ticking.
Danny Lucas, thanks for coming forward. You did the right thing mate.

    Anniversary swim for me today
12 months ago I was welcomed by the first person I ran into at the sign up area and pointed to Ian – who made my day by telling me that the photo taken is “… to identify the body”
My sense of humour nailed in one – I relaxed at that point and wondered why I had taken so long to overcome my own mind and actually turn up
What a great group of diverse people
I look forward to years of swims
