11/12/2013 – Boulderdash perfect!

11/12/201311

As the old saying goes “what a difference a day makes”. Today was perfect!

197 people ticked! YES, ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY SEVEN!

Water temp 20.

Did you know there is now a phone and computer APP to log your swim?  The more people who start using the APP the better especially as we get more into Summer – it would really help out Ian and his crew. If your day is not complete without bending over a blue folder and drawing a small diagonal line this will satisfy you even more! Please read on…

B&B Attendance Login App

Don’t be caught out – go with the App! Being an eco friendly mob, we are aiming to reduce our paper consumption by switching to the B&B Login App.  The App also has the benefit of providing you with a history of your swims.  Log your swim between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.

To get started, please send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com).  He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Great conditions for the Boulderdash Swim!  11 people swam it including Lips, LSA, Elaine and Ted who said it was PERFECT! Elaine took some really beautiful photos which might be on her blog tomorrow ;-).

For those who don’t know, The Boulderdash is one of the extra swims BnB does over summer. It’s swimming to Queenscliff and back… They leave around 6am… And you should be back in time for the 7am swim. A really good extra work out and will prepare you for the other big swims! The 6km and 10km.  The 6km is every Saturday straight after the Shelly swim and the 10km is once a month. See bottom of blog for more details……

Anne Edwards did her first solo “Welcoming newbies’ this morning! She roped in a few swimmers to help distribute caps and seemed to be doing ok… Although she was last seen running and screaming naked down the Corso! 😉 Thanks Anne you did a great job…

Thank God we had Jules here with her awesome Wolf whistle and bellowing Let’s GO!! As poor Anne lost her voice greeting all the newbies… 😉 TWELVE in all!

Below..the tractor picked up one of Santa’s reindeers off the beach…. must have been yesterday’s heat wave ;-D

 Sooo busy!!!

But stunning! Visibility in the water wasn’t great for most of the swim but once we hit Shelly we were able to see all the rubbish on the sea bed again ;-O

Happy Birthday Jo Williams! See here with me…..from my Special Collection of photos! ;-P

At the Christmas party last week we had swimmer James Partigan’s band playing for us! Here is a bit of a plug for them…. Below is contact details…they will play ANYWHERE and for ANY reason  😉   Give them a call on 0414 525 151

Summer (badge) swims are go!!

Summer Badge season is in go mode!! Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back, then once a month there is a 10km swim.  Route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from Squadron Leader John ‘007’ Bond. The first 10km swim to be held on 14 December depending on conditions.

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To read, or even download, click here.

Thanks for the blog Lesbubbles! I always enjoy your take on Wednesday mornings.
The sun is so high and warm in the mornings, I think I may need to follow your lead and zinc-up!

Yes, really perfect conditions for a boulderdash….. (er.. or crawl) this morning and if anyone is considering a 6K, let alone a 10K, it’s the perfect way to train and test oneself! The key is to find people as fast (er.. or as slow) as oneself to swim with!
Yes, in our group, it was Ted’s first one – congratulations Ted! And Elisabeth’s first full one, I believe – all set and ready for a 10K now!
Thx to all for the great company and to Lesley for her usual great blog! Look f/w to your pics tomorrow, LL!

Yes Lesley, a large turnout this morning on a great day for a swim. The conditions were ideal for those who swam to Queenscliff.
Well done to first timers and to Anne on her first job with the newbies and the attendances.

Yes, thanks a lot, Anne, for helping in this way. It’s really a huge job assisting with attendance records and so on!
Once you get in the habit of signing in on computer or smart phone before leaving home or en route to the surf club, it’s easy (except when you forget or don’t know what you’re doing:-))

Oh Storchy, what a shame! Getting left behind in the PC again…. Lucky you’re doing a 10K on Sat!!

That sure is a very strange photo of the reindeer being scooped up by the tractor this morning. Poor thing. Maybe Jack Johnson fell foul of the tractor, too. He was noticeable by his absence this morning.

    yes Sarah,
but fortunately I’m ticking for the 10k, boulder dash, Shelley, halfway and 6 k this Saturday and I’ll be watching it all unfold from Kiama.
I’m also thinking of ticking for the boulder dash, Shelley, halfway and a privately endorsed 6 k this Sunday which I’ll be watching unfold from Halfway Beach, to ensure that you don’t get too far in front.
And Leswee, awesome blog as per your usual high standards.

    Lovely blog Lesbubbles!
And thanks for reminding everyone of Bo(u)lderdash and 6k / 10k options during summer. Highly recommended!
Which reminds me – congrats on your own 6k last Saturday! (cough, cough..)
