29 swimming legends (+11 Drinky specials) took on a miserable looking Monday. The seas were rough and rolling, however, the swim was toastie warm at 19.7C and really enjoyable.
What made it even more special was that it is 3 of my favourite B&Bers birthdays this week. Dr John on the weekend, Dr Jane today and the beautiful Emer Byrne this Wednesday. Happy birthday!!
But back to today…
We are HARDCORE
I said HARDCORE
Bruce muttering something about “Bloody Irish Weather”
Initially I stuck the thermometer in the wrong place and it was around 40C, luckily John Bond ran over and showed me how to do it properly
The Drinkmeister General and the 6.30 troops
Elizabeth LAUGHED in the face of the waves
If you dont love swimming in the rain, you clearly have some problems. Yes, YOU! 😉
These two were sooooooo slow to shelly, but of course we waited for them. At least they had each other for company
Birthday girl!
Birthday Boy!
Here is one of him looking a little less crazy on his special day!
We baptise you in the name of St Jules of Isbill
And 2 cakes at Breakfast???????????
Keep swimming and smiling,
Robster, with Wednesday birthday girl Emer, the Blogster

AUCTION – Phone
Bids will be accepted!
REMEMBER at the dinner on Tuesday night, we will be auctioning a
stunning original art work by our very own Jenny Knapman. Typically her works
sell for around the $1200.00 mark! If you can’t make it to the
dinner, but would like to bid, we will be accepting telephone bids on the
night. Let Ian (0412 331530) know if you would like to bid and we will ring you
when the auction is about to start.
Below is a photo of the beautiful (and bold) painting that Jenny
is donating!
‘Aerial view of Shelly
Beach’ – dimensions 100 x 100cm – note the pink caps in the water

B & B Attendance
Login App
The new B & B
Attendance Login App is now operational. This App allows you to login from your
computer or phone before or after you swim (between the hours of 5 am and 9 am
on the day of the swim). You will then not need to tick the attendance sheet.
The aim of the new system is to reduce the amount of effort involved in
entering the daily attendance data. This has become necessary due to the large
increase in the number of swimmers in recent times.
If you would like to log
in electronically each morning and help reduce the load on our administrative
staff, please send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboy@optusnet.com.au) . Your account will then be activated and you
will receive detailed instructions how to operate the system. Happy ticking.

We are about to enter Summer Badge season, it is proposed that
the first 10km swim could provisionally be held on 14 December. Watch this space or
share your view with John Bond. He is making sure that the swim does
not conflict with other events.

Have
Fun more with the Pacific Challenge
Our website guru, Magnus Butlin has developed a fun new page which
shows a different take on the Pacific Challenge. The new page shows each
swimmer’s progress over the last week (or fortnight/month/two months) in terms
of their position on the leader board.
The bumps chart can be accessed from the Pacific Challenge page
via a button in the top right hand corner. Take a look and see how many people
you have passed in the Pacific Challenge in the last few weeks:
http://www.faulconbridgesoftware.com/bb/pub/bumps.htm
The ‘divisions’ listed are the columns currently shown on the
Pacific Challenge page. At this stage, only the first five columns (300
swimmers) are shown.

All so brave to swim is such ‘challenging’ weather. Happy birthday to Drs John and Jane.

Nice one Robster! Good on Elizabeth for going out in those massive waves, I chickened in at half way, but was lovely all the same. My morning was topped off by a lift to the city with Elizabeth which meant I managed to avoid getting drenched before work and had a great catch up along the way too. Elizabeth, you are a rock star – thanks!
