11/10/2014 – Introducing ….Team Omega, ZZZZ

11/10/201429

ZZZZ – thats not me snoozing and missing todays glorious dawn, thats me introducing myself.

The other day the Bishop raised the idea of me covering his blog a couple of times. Now I like the A team and love hearing about their exploits at the front of the field but I couldn’t write much about them as I have only swum with them once*. You see I operate at the other end of the pack – I am a zig-zagging Zedder, Zab.

Yep! Far from the A team I am a confirmed & consistent Zedder. Or as some might prefer to be known – a member of Team Omega.

Our A team is mainly Alpha males but the B&B includes the whole gamut of swimming prowess – from Alpha to Omega.

Who are the awesome Team Omega mob? Well it wouldn’t be right of me to say as they are a modest lot. I wouldn’t want to name the members for fear of insensitivity. One has to self-declare being a part of the incredible Team Omega.

I’ll give you a couple of clues though. A quiz – a prize to the first correct respondent with all the names correctly identified but ONLY IF each of those Zedders steps up and announces their Team Omega membership before tomorrow’s swim.

5 Nominations: first names of our Zedders only please.
1. I am the original monarch, my swimming & tackling of my fears inspires many and I recently finished a roughwater ocean swim in Hawaii when many didnt manage to.
2. This Zedder has been described to me as Zenlike. An accent might be an identifier. Sporting a different look hair-wise since the Hall of Fame pics showed off bright blue eyes.
3. One who swims with Dolphins and recently did a fantastic historical B&B blog.
4. This Zedder is another described as a monarch but not an Alison Wonderland one though it sounds similar. Strike we have been missing this Zedder & their spouse. Like some of their neighbours I protest! their long absence. When will mid Oct arrive and return them to us?
5. Moi, Zig-zagging Zedder Zab. X marks the spot to identify me – not another HRH.

Any other members of the exclusive Team Omega who want to declare it today?

Taking our time en route today Team Omega Zedders could have seen:

Mirek posing and displaying his yoga prowess

Bruce Baird caught on film just after dunking an unsuspecting John Hiron

The rare sight of three Wobbegongs together as all captured in this pic by Lainey Loo

Senator Wrasse and also another rare Ray which Nick saw ( ND can you add a pic?)

It was great to see the indomitable Jane back with us again after being hit by a drunk driver on his way home at 6.30am !!!! last Sunday while she was en route to the swim. Her car was written off but she is ok thankfully. If anyone has any leads for a good compact car, preferably pink ;-), ($1,900-$5,000) please make contact.

Signing off,
ZZZZ
aka Zig-zagging Zedder Zab

Monthly Dinner – Special Guest Speaker

Bluewater Restaurant – Tuesday 14 October at 6.30 pm

October’s monthly dinner features one of our swimmers, Penny Berents, who is a marine biologist and currently a Senior Fellow at the Australian Museum Research Institute. Penny has been swimming and diving in Sydney waters for more than 40 years. Her talk will focus on the animals of Cabbage Tree Bay, both those that we see on our swims and the smaller more cryptic beasties that we don’t see but are important in the ecosystems of the Bay.

Usual deal: Dinner is only $20 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW

We have a half price deal for BnB swimmers who want to visit the Freshwater Wellness Community Festival at Harbord Diggers on Sunday 19th of Oct from 10am. For more info and half price tickets go here:

Great first blog Zab, and in record time too. You’re hired. Love the Omega concept… but I can’t claim membership sorry. I think I have 4 out of the 5 Omega crew, but don’t want to name and shame until they fess up!

Thankyou for the plug, ZZZZZZZZ! Yes, preference for a zippy small car, 4-door, hatchback, pref. white or yellow (NOT pink I think!)
On a different note (🎵 🎶), did anyone pick up my black sports bra by mistake this morning? It was at the end of the table while I was changing, then suddenly not there any more. I’ll be there tomorrow.

Great newbie blog! Nice to hear from the omega underdogs.
Speaking Lost and Found, it’s a long shot but I lost my silicon B&B cap yesterday if anyone saw it?
    Reward of a coffee!

It will be nice if someone swims with me tomorrow. After such a long absence from The Swim, I am coming back tomorrow (all being well)and am feeling rather cautious. The only reminder of water here in Springwood today is a helicopter dumping bucket-loads of water on the “hazard reduction” burn-off. Not the reminder of last October that a Springwoodian wants…..with accompanying stench of burning eucalypt it makes you a bit nervous.

Join the club, Anna – my silicon B&B cap also did a runner some time ago – hope yours turns up (mine didn’t).

Well, maybe a pink bus then – but maybe not the costumes (but they might suit you – in private of course?)

I am Omega and proud. And grateful the BB lets ANYONE swim. I am looking for that turtle – it needs to be helped. I think turtles eat jimbles.

Are you really sure you’re not the “Zig-zagging Zedder Zab”?
    1. Elizabeth
    2. Derek
    3. Shaun
    4. LSA
    5. Lainey Loo (unless she has a zig-zagging Zedder double!)
I see I’ll have to help round up more Team Omega members on return:)

    Great blog Elizabeth! Well done!!
    Absolute natural.
Only a slow swimmer who has turned up to trail out back many many times could have come up with this blog. 🙂
I dare you to come up with another great topic for your second blog. 🙂

Can I join team Omega? If I go flipperless I struggle to stay in Elizabeth’s wake. Are there try-outs for the Zedders?
