11/07/2014 – 10 reasons to be grateful

11/07/201424

This week I’m feeling very grateful.  You see I have this friend, who is a trainer, and each week he gives me task to complete.  This week’s task is to start each day acknowledging the 10 things for which I’m grateful.  So here is today’s list.

I am grateful for:-

1. The magical sunrises that greet us every day of our swim.  Except when it is raining or really cloudy.

2. The hugs – so good for you!  Hugging is excellent medicine.  You need four hugs each day for survival, eight for maintenance and 12 for growth.  At the B&B, there is a whole lot of growth going on.

3. The sea that ceases and suffices itself.  Plunging into the sea gives you such a sense of renewal.  We are so lucky to have this watery health spa.

4. My ability to swim.  I was told by a Buddhist friend that she begins each task by being grateful that she has the ability to complete the task.  I am very grateful that I can swim (‘cause I’m a hopeless runner).

5. The people in my life.  Each day I have the opportunity to see these beautiful and amazing people.  Each with their perfectly unique stories that inspire, amuse and sometimes stretch the realms of believability.

6. The serene marine creatures we see each day.  The sunny flash of the yellow tail, a Blue Groper darting about the rocks, the flathead that blends into the shelly bottom of the bay, the Rays, the Sand Whiting.  So much nicer to see them here than in submerged in ice at a fish market…

7. That bottle of hot water on a wintry morning.  It makes all the difference.

8. The après swim coffee.   This is the only time I drink coffee – and it is soooo good.  Made even better with the pleasure of sharing the morning sun with friends.

9. Being here to enjoy this moment.

10. My friend, and trainer, who set this task for me.  For this week I have been reminded to see the joy and pleasure in my daily life and be grateful for these bountiful gifts.

What are you grateful for?

Mary

Bottom of the Blog – the very useful stuff

Week 7 of the Winter Badge season.

There are 14 weeks in the winter season.  To qualify for the prized Cold & Bold Badge you simply need to swim 20 times within the season ensuring you have swum in a minimum of 7 different weeks.  So, attempting to do it all in the first few weeks does not count!!  Make sure you use the i-Log to register your without wetsuit for the WWW badge.

B&B i-Log

The B&B i-Log is the best way to capture your swims!!  Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster ugoboyo@gmail.com (This is not a link so please copy and paste into your email). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Staying safe

There may not be any waves just at the moment, but are you prepared for their return? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To read, or even download, click here.

Mary, always lovely to read your blog….it so much comes from your heart.
Think there might be too many ” man hugs ” happening though !! Still I guess thats why we wear wetsuits…just one form of protection.

I am grateful for all the bloggers. You are all doing a fantastic job. It always lightens up my day in the office when I read the blog during lunch break.
Mary, I appreciate you didn’t put the photo with me on Huw’s back on the blog, would have been too embarrassing.
