What a turn out today. The sunny skies and warmer temperatures have bought many swimmers out of their warm beds and i’m sure it was a morning that they won’t forget any time soon. Blue skies, warm water (well in some areas) and clear smooth seas made it a days to take a leisurely swim across to shelly.
Here is Shaun at it again.
Attracta & Cynthia all ready for their early morning dip in ocean.
Paige & Andrew keeping each other warm.
Pauline making sure her wetsuit is on nice and tight. Why are they so difficult..
The girls all ready to take on the seas. Black is definitely in at this time of year with even the die hards opting for the wetsuit.
There were plenty of swimmers this morning keen for a winter swim.
Brrrrr as the wave smashing into the faces. If only you could hear the sounds of the swimmers as the water shocks them.
Ian & Leisa taking is slow.
John Bond in good form.
Some of the ladies didn’t want to put their faces in the water. Putting off the inevitable.
Someone is still looking cold even under the water.. (i think this is the person that left their flippers, goggles & cap behind) If it is you Ian Foster has them for you.
The whole clan over at shelly. What a beautiful sight.
It can be very tiring swimming all the way over from Manly. Just taking in a small breather.
For some too much and they have made a run for it. he he
I will finish off with a few underwater shots. I have my “L’s” on at this stage so I am always crossing my fingers that I have some decent shots in there. Anyhow here we go.
As mentioned earlier I found some flippers, goggles and cap left at swimming this morning. If it is yours please contact Ian Foster.

James Pittar
James Pittar is a blind marathon swimmer and he is swimming 12km from Long Reef to North Steyne via Shelly Beach. He would love for 100 swimmers to join him for the last 2km (From Shelly Beach to North Steyne Beach) and raise funds and awareness for The Fred Hollows Foundation. His condition caused him to go blind when he was in his 20’s but he knows how many people are out there in the world that are needlessly blind.

Great blog Renae with beautiful photos! You did well diving down for the fish photos with a wettie on, it’s hard. Thanks for taking on 2 blog days whilst Mary is away. Have a lovely time Mary and Eric if you are reading. Dr Ray is swimming tomorrow if anyone wants to talk to him about his work in Nepal.
Btw, a plug for our blogger. Renae and hubby Gary have a mortgage broking business if anyone is after a mortgage broker.

Conditions don’t get much better for winter swimming with clear skies, bright sunshine and calm clean water.
Great photos Renae especially the underwater shots eg the fish, sunrays streaming down from the surface, air bubbles.
Good luck to those participating in the City to Surf, looks like good weather for it.

Looks great fun and love the underwater shots in the sun,, Renae!
Blood pumping here in Hong Kong due to the heat wave and announcements over the loudspeakers at Big Wave Bay about the dangers of staying in the water too long because of heat exposure. Even the ‘cold’ water showers were warm!

Awesome blog as usual! I swam today without wetsuit but I’m not on the attendance page. Can this be fixed hopefully? I was there I promise, there’s a photo of me on the blog as proof! I wouldn’t normally care but I’m only 2 swims off my badge!

Andrew, you will need to speak with Ian Foster about marking your name off. When you see him next just let him know and he can change the attendance records. I know what you mean though. I did my 20 swims asap so I could put that wetsuit on.

Actually, our swim was divine…..no shivers, no wet-suit, but not many calories burnt either and lots of delicious food….. so will need to come back to the cold water to diet!
