1/05/2019- Looking swell despite the swell! Happy b’day Sarah!

01/05/201913

A very happy birthday to the lovely Sarah, who celebrated her 29th birthday today. As we all know, there are no numbers beyond 29. Sarah started the day tackling the swell and dramatically different conditions from yesterday but nonetheless, come out beaming! May the rest of your day continue the way it started! Have a fabulous day!

The sky was stunning and dramatic this morning which should have been a warning of the rough conditions – ‘red sky in morning, sailors warning’ but walking onto the corso, we were taken aback by the big swell we could see through the sun and trees after so many magnificent days of calm!

Hear, see and speak no evil Brian, Sam and Richard were contemplating the rough surf conditions and whether they would brave them. Richard announced he was going to jog to Shelly, have a quick dip and then log a triple. 😆

Management suggested the best route today was to swim from Shelly. The sensible people adhered to this request but I was intrigued to find out who the rebels were so followed them in the water to catch them red handed. I recognised the headless black arm banded person.

Never fear – Rainer is near! Rainer has returned from his family holiday in the US and was searching for his swim buddy, Gemma, who had sensibly taken herself off to Shelly. Welcome back Rainer! He had been suffering a severe case of BnB swim withdrawals and was delighted to be bouncing in the waves again.

It was a bit hard to take photos in the water today so this is the best of a bad bunch and doesn’t show the tricky conditions we were all dealing with but the beach was closed so that should give you an idea!

This was about the extent of the swimmers at Shelly today and looked a bit sad and lonely. The ones who swam from Shelly were still in the water so, had they all been there too, it would have not looked so sad and lonely.

I have no idea how this happened but the clearest thing in this picture seems to be Rainer’s tongue! Sorry A Team!

As we approached the point, the waves were huge and there was discussion about how we might manage to get through them! Rainer suggested that if the blogger didnt make it back safely, the record of photos from the camera would make a rather nice Eulogy! Gee you miss him when he’s on holiday! Thankfully back safely on land, everyone was all smiles.

However, we are all still wondering who this dapper man is?

This is he again, explaining the meeting he had with Council this morning about ‘the dogs.’ More to follow in tomorrow’s blog and that’s all I’m saying about ‘the dogs’ (apart from I love dogs)!

Until next time, its goodbye from me.

Lucy

Stats:

Swimmers: Not very many

Thx so much Lucy and all! So very kind of you!
Such a beautiful morning. I’d been dreaming of waves for my birthday and at 6.00 they were amazing with the red sky swimming out and sunrise swimming in before time to get scared by the announcements and closed beach:)
(Just spent the whole arvo sitting around in a clinic and having needle surgery on my eye, so just as well the morning was so lovely:) xxxx
