For an intimate crowd of around 90 swimmers it was business as usual down at the beach. So quiet after the weekend of many hundreds!

Cloud cover and howling winds might have deterred some, but all was peaceful in our corner of Manly.

By a little after 6 the booty camp was in full swing with participants leaping for joy. . .

Great to see Izzy back after her trip to the US.

The waves were not huge but no matter, it is always wise to stay focused.

Ian is looking focused. Is it the waves or the dinner tomorrow? The event is another sold out event but still Ian is fielding requests for seats. If you have booked for the monthly dinner tomorrow night (Tuesday 11 February), and now can’t make it, please let Ian know via email (ugoboyo@gmail.com).

A lone push-up enthusiast captures the attention of the some of the gathering at Shelly.

The boys show off their six packs!!

Kara calls the let’s go and promptly leads the charge back to Manly.

John ‘Mr January’ provides assistance to Arabella – Booty Camp and the swim makes it a very physical morning!

It is a moody swim back to Manly. Visibility is very low. . . so no fishy photos from me today.

Soon the seagulls have the beach to themselves.

Latest news on the RedFeb is that it is all go for this Friday! The photographer and caps will be with us for the 7am swim, so if you can make it, be ready for what we do best – after swimming, socialising and taking breakfast that is – being photographed.

February is Heart Research Month, and we’re raising $1 for every kilometre we swim during the month.
We need to start kicking this along! The swimming is going ok, but a little more for the $$$$ would be great. Here’s the update…

Have a great day.

B&B Monthly Dinner!
Tomorrow night is the first B&B monthly dinner for the year. As the event is sold out, should you have booked but now can’t make it, please let Ian know via email (ugoboyo@gmail.com) so he can allocate seats to the waiting list.
The Guest Speaker is Belinda Curley, a Marine Ecologist based at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science at Chowder Bay. Belinda will present a short talk at the dinner about the importance of marine reserves for conservation, and will highlight the ‘four seasons of marine organisms in Cabbage Tree Bay’.
B&B i-Log
Almost 50% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.
Summer badge swims
Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.
The proposed date for the next 10km swim is 15 February depending on conditions. This date will depend on final confirmation of local surf carnivals so keep checking the blog for updates.
Bolderdash
This daily swim to Queenscliff and back DEPARTS the surf club at 5.50am. As these are generally intimate groups, please WAIT for everyone in the water before heading off. Do buddy up with someone – great to be with someone who has the same pace – that way everyone is ‘accounted for’ at Queenscliff.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Great Blog Mary !
A bit dull today but I hope to be back in the water soon after my legs are healed. I helped John Kelly at his Hawks Nest Scouse House last weekend and when I didn’t move fast enough he whipped me. He must have seen “12 Years A Slave” or maybe he just has a vast wealth of untapped aggression.
