10/03/201412

Simon was all set to do today’s blog but was called away unexpectedly…. All I can say is I hope everything is ok ?!

So continuing from Simon 🙂 ………..

Greetings from Manly, NSW, Australia!

Storchies ‘stork’ camp!

John Hiron’s 25th Birthday! Well I would say he is 25 in fitness years that’s for sure!

Another beaut morning!

Miles looking very spiffy after 2 HOURS of swimming in the dark ocean! He has a little sand on his tie though! 😀  Don’t forget you can read Miles’ Channel Blog here http://frostybubbles.wordpress.com/

Water is still fairly ‘warm’ – a little cooler getting in but warming up at the Point!

Ted’s push up camp!

John Hiron being birthday splashed!

Off we go!

SOOOOOOOOOOO MANY FISH TODAY

Spoiler ALERT!  First photo is how the photo I took came out on the camera and 2nd photo is the first one AFTER a bit of ‘photoshopping’!! 🙂  Anyway 2 cute stingarees chasing each other!

I was soooooo excited to see these squid!! There were heaps of them shooting around the point! And they SHOOT off big time when spooked!

10000’s of baby fish!

Let me explain this photo!  There was so much rubbish floating around and YES of course there was a condom! 🙂 A PINK ONE this time! Anyway I was going to take a photo of it when Annie (welcome back!) came along to see what I was doing, she didn’t see the condom until it nearly touched her MOUTH and I yelled “look out it’s a condom” – she SCREAMED and I took the photo! Red arrow is condom, pink arrow is poor Annie! 😀

Below are some BEAUTIFUL photos that Simon uploaded yesterday ?? I’m not sure who took them?? BUT how ridiculously beautiful is this first one??????

No sign-off, but there’s only one Condom Blogger…. Welcome back, Annie – photogenic as usual:-)
A much bumpier, more challenging early double today, but thank goodness for lots of beautiful fish and other good company on the various legs 🙂
(Last pic of the Old Wives is amazing! Hope all’s well, Simon….)

Thanks Lesley for blogging at short notice.
The fish pictures are by Mauricio – can anyone identify the large black fish?

My American son-in-law Al Del Bene is doing a standup at Manly Boatshed tonight! It would be lovely if you could come along and support him if you can.

You always find the condoms Lesbubbs! The blacky bluey, sleek fish with the bright blue streak is a Herring Kale. I saw one on Thursday and included it on my blog. Jane identified it. Thanks for blogging Lesbubbs!

The very scary life of female herring cale:
IP fish may then develop terminal phase (TP) colouration. All TP individuals are males. When a male fish becomes a TP individual it undergoes a change of colour.
A female that changes into a TP fish undergoes not only a change of colour but also a change of sex.

What make of camera do you use to capture these beautiful photos. I was out this afternoon and the fish were extraordinary.

    Hi Denis
The last lot of photos I am not sure what camera the person uses – I think it’s a GoPro??
The most popular camera the swimmers use is the Olympus TG-2.
To get really good shots though you will probably need a weight belt and fins!!
However the guy who took the last photos is a free-diver and can stay down and still for ages
    🙂
