119 ticked Bold and Beautiful swimmers decided the swim would be worth it even if we did cop the odd sting from the pink stinging jellyfish. Just another challenge and yes it was absolutely worth it!
3 Bolderdashers. 9 Early lappers at 6.30am and 8 Swimmers who did a Double.
Once again, on a cloudy, dullish morning, the sun rose above Shelly Beach, proving once again we swim in God’s Country and beckoning us swimmers over !It was beautiful!

A few of the early lappers stepping out. Remember the Bolderdash at 5.50am or 6.30am swim to Shelly are good options for early workers.

Then a few early lappers came back early complaining of LOADS of jimbles off The Point. They were still smiling though and Hilary saw a group of dancing stingrays she was excited about. (Stingray photos later courtesy of Stephen C.) It’s nearly 7am and jimble talk is causing us to be a bit slow setting off. Two Pommies have decided to keep their clothes on 😉

And theres’s the chatter about what a good night was had at Murray’s last night! I couldn’t go as parents arrived yesterday from Birmingham so Jules and 007 are saying’,”Why weren’t you at The Boatshed last night?” I heard that our very own Jules got on the stage too!

Angel Nicki (above) is back swimming with us after the flu and talking of ‘flu’where is Lips? He’s got some competition as poor Inez, (such a Bold swimmer coming all the way from Concorde and usually swimming a double lap), kissed a jimble and even came to show me her sting in the cafe afterwards!Unfortunately the jimble had also caused her to walk sideways 😉

And we set off, some going left, some going right. I try and persuade these CanTooers to head North rather than letting the jimble talk take them to the pool instead. Some of them are Newbies but they boldly choose to swim in the ocean! They are happy, a CanToo funded cancer researcher has just made an exciting breakthrough.

The water was clearer than it has been for a while and once again on my blog day I was left behind chasing groupers, crimson morwong and mados…I shouldn’t have bothered as SC’s photos he sent in are superb. I’ll include my attempts anyway!

At Shelly Beach barely anyone had been attacked by jimbles. (Apologies to anyone at Manly Hospital at the moment who may have suffered severely…I only hope you get to be treated by Dr John 😉 )

Here are Stephen Coulter’s AMAZING photos of stingrays and fish on the way back just off the rocks.

And Maricio sent me some outstanding photos of other marine life …

Mauricio also got a great grouper photo and caught one of our friendly sharks, a lovely dusky whaler. By the way do you know that the shark that caused Manly beach to close the other day was a wobbegong? They don’t even have teeth, do they??

The deadly shark that closed Manly Beach…

Thought I’d include a reminder of where The Point is..This is the area we should try and gather whilst we wait for everyone before we set off to Shelly. It’s also a great aerial shot showing the beautiful route we take to Shelly.

A few more of my cartoons reminding us of the many reasons to swim with The Bold And Beautiful! As many of you know there are many other cartoon reasons on the last few Thursdays blogs!
Thank you for reading my blog. I do hope it entices you to come and join in this amazing daily drama as often as you can!

Hi everyone!!
I’m thinking of doing a 10km+ swim on this Saturday. I will probably start early [? around 5.30] and will do it either as laps to Freshie and back or in the harbour from Manly to little Manly and back. It will depend on conditions of course.
I’ll just be trying to go at my pace, which is not real fast, so anyone who wants to do some or all of it is welcome.
If you would like to count it as a 10k badge swim that is fine also- as long as you swim 10k of course.
I’ll put up final details tomorrow on the blog sometime in the evening, when its clear what the conditions will be.
Happy to see anyone who want to come.

I’m doing the Cole Classic, in the Ancient Ladies division. I have 2 plates from way back and would love to score a third for showing off purposes (no, not PORPOISES)…..

Was it something that you said to the Jimble in passing that got you such a smack on the lip? Apart from that it was fun swimming back with you and Michael on an enjoyably bumpy double. Hope you’re feeling better.

The Janitor in Manly Hospital, John Jackson is studying to become a male nurse. I believe one of his projects is about monkey balls.

What? The 7am swims have relocated back to the surf side??? Why didnt anyone tell me?
I’ve been swimming to the Toilet Rolls every morning since Sunday. No wonder I havent seen anyone. And the attendance sheets weren’t there either!!
Okay, truth is I’m still fighting my man flu. Can’t seem to shake it. Have work early tomorrow but will try and return starting Saturday. Missing the 7am swims and (more importantly) all my BnB swim buddies. Plus, lets face it, the lack of blog tarting this week is appalling!
LL – love your blogs!! Wish i could have tarted for you today!
Inez – well done on the lip. Good size swelling. Even for my standards. Hope it’s come down a bit by now.
See you on the weekend!

I haven’t swum the Cole for a while but I too would quite like to attempt to add to my late collection, Jane. i am in the medium-ancient ladies division. Ill go loook at the details…I might break ranks and do it, which i have refuse o do since Fairfax took it over. But hey.

Alyson, thanks, better now, looks almost like normal. Jenny, thanks for a great swim, and you SOOO don’t need those fins. Rainer, I swam with a cold all this month, and I reckon the salt water has washed it away, so get your lips back here so that the jimbles will leave ME alone. Michael, I will keep you company from 5.30 but not sure if I am ready for 10km, was mentally aiming for end of February. But anything could happen in the next 31 hours….

That would be great Inez. No jimbles if we go in the harbour!!
Better talk Jenny into it too.

Love your cartoons Tedley, they never fail to make me smile. Brilliant !
Thanks to all above who let me know they’re doing the Cole Classic, I’ll forward your details onto the SMH. Anyone else keen to be part of this potential media story ??
Murray’s (and the Boatshed) was wonderful last night. Thanks for your impromptu speech Michelle Sparkes and what a fabulous song re-worded by Greg and Krystyna and sung by all of you, even if you did make me cry xxxx

So sorry to hear that you’re still fighting the man flu! Also missing 7 am swims and BnB buddies. Doing a few laps at 6 am in a pool in Thailand, but also can’t see the attendance sheets around!
Michael, count me in for 5.30 Sat – I know that secretly you’d really love to have me swimming by your side:-) At least it’ll be a virtual swim, so shouldn’t slow you down too much. Just remind Shaun to tick me in:-))
LL & al Bloggers – thx so much for doing such a great job:-) Love the cartoons, but wondering if the man flu has shrunk Buddy Lips?
