BOLD & BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING DUE TO THE RISKS OF CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19). IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE PHYSICAL DISTANCING AND FOLLOW PUBLIC HEALTH ADVICE.
Thank you for swimming at different times of the day and maintaining 1.5m distance.
At last a Giant Cuttlefish sighting this morning! I haven’t been so lucky lately with underwater sightings and haven’t seen one of the reported 3 Turtles in our bay, only one a couple of weeks ago…Today was calm and clear despite the early rain and was still 18 degrees. A beautiful swim!
The clouds started to disappear around 6.45am and the tide was really low.
Cabbage Tree Bay, our piece of paradise…
Jo came in from her early swim shivering as usual. Here she is with Pirate Prendergast. They reported seeing the huge Ray that’s been hanging around lately. Stumpy I think his name is 😉
Anita on the left is new to the B&B and had a heartwarming story to tell me. She said it was her birthday yesterday but swam on her own at 8.30am. As she neared the point returning from Shelly, she came across about 8 pink capped ladies and happened to mention it was her birthday. They instantly started singing Happy Birthday to her and made her day! She says she loves the ‘sense of community’ you get with our group. Even in covid times she has come down on her own and says it is so comforting to know there will be someone here willing to let you swim with them.
Julia and Rana were happy to keep Anita company today. They were also ecstatic to see the Turtle as they swam back from Shelly quite wide!
Dr Michele is off to work after her swim and a bowl of porridge at Bluewater!
Stunning at the point!
Donald, Sparkie and Ted oblige for an underwater shot.
My beautiful Cuttlefish was swimming near Attracta’s Rock close to Shelly. Gareth and Jo saw it too and they said the Wobbegong below swam quite close to me when I was down taking photos of Cuttie!
This was the only Wobbie I saw swimming but I did see 3 others on the ocean floor today.
Always nice to see a Puffer aka Porcupinefish
Fiddler Ray
Lucky to see a Rainbow Kale today
A swimming Stingaree that appeared quite pink!
The hot water bottles were definitely needed today
The WOWs (and Champ) look very rugged up. The gorgeous pink hats are for sale and locally knitted. See Di Schaffers if interested $25
These two lovely ladies epitomise the positive, kind, caring, bold spirit of our swim group, Lisa and Di!
We even embrace the homeless. Here they are Steve and Lesbuubles 😉
and ‘Hobo Dave’ 😉
Simon Phin sent in the photos and note below!
During Covid-19 some of us have taken responsibility for our wellbeing, just that next step. Yes, saving masks for those who truly need them.
6:30 am Swimmer, Dave Worley, (AKA ‘The Guvnor’) has ensured that if you have only one mask available, you need to make good decisions about where to use it. Of course, there is always undies available!
Cheers & Thanks, Simon (Dave loves a laugh as much as we do).

Read more below for full details
Due to Covid-19 and the current government guidelines limiting the number of people allowed to be in a group, Bold & Beautiful is still currently suspended.
But we recognise many of our swimmers are still swimming at various times and locations, and it is more important than ever to remain fit, healthy and connected.
As such, B&B is offering this unique, one off, Covid 2020 Winter Challenge Badge, kindly designed by our amazingly creative swimmer, Linda from Manly Mac Art.
To qualify for your Covid Winter Challenge Badge you need to swim 20 times across 7 different weeks of winter, between 1st June – 31st August.
If you are swimming at Manly, any time of the day, please continue to log your swim as Manly – Shelly Swim, this swim will not only count towards your Covid Winter Challenge Badge, it will also continue to count towards the Pacific Challenge.
If you are swimming in any other location, anywhere in the world, please tick your swim as ‘Covid Swim’, this will give you a special 19m on the Pacific Challenge and will count towards your Covid Winter Challenge.
Log your 20 (or more) swims without a wetsuit and you will be eligible for the special 2020 ICC (Ice Cold Corona) badge.
YOU MUST LOG YOUR SWIMS IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE YOUR COVID BADGE(S)
