09/02/15 – Let’s Go… Let Go

09/02/201518

Whenever we are hanging on to something it costs us.  It requires energy you know, all that holding onto the way it was, the way we think it should or will be.  It erodes the present moment.  How can you completely enjoy being here, if you’re still attached to being there?

Waiting at The Point in clear, glassy, 24.6 degree water we looked back to where we once were.  We turned and saw the place we wished to arrive.  We said “let’s go”, then we swam…

We let go.

Somewhere between those two places, between the belief of what was and the illusion of what will be, we experienced what ‘is’.

Now we leave that too where it was, and continue to let go.  Taking the opportunity it has offered, to only remain immersed in the now.

Washing away what was

Into the deep

Ready to ‘let go’

Then into the now

Clarity

Connection

Cuddles

Then again, let go

And so it is

That this morning, we were

If only for a little while

Then gone…

Kind Regards,
Andrew ‘Magichands’ Maher.

REDFEB is Heart Research Australia’s signature fundraising campaign. It promotes a heart healthy lifestyle and raises much needed funds for first-stage innovative research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

B&B will again be assisting this cause in 2015 by participating in the virtual REDFEB Relay and help to lap the map of Australia! Last year in February we swam over 8700 km and raised $2,200. Our aim this year will be to beat that figure. B&B will again be assisting this cause in 2015 by participating in the virtual REDFEB Relay and help to lap the map of Australia!

Last year in February we swam over 8700 km and raised $2,200. Our aim this year will be to beat that figure and raise $3,000. To view our B&B team page CLICK HERE
You can donate funds on the team page, or even better, you can create your own page where all your friends can donate towards the cause. To create your own page and join the B&B team, just go to the team page and simply click “join”. You will then be taken through the steps to create your own page. On your own page you can input your kilometers and also raise funds. All funds raised on individual pages will accumulate to the B&B team total.

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Thanks Andrew. Nice blog and timely.
Emotionally I let the lost ring go late yesterday. Then I engaged my brain and did a fifth trawl through the car. Voila!!
I had let go of a LOT of family history: grandparents gave ring to middle daughter in the 30s. She died during the war after surgery a couple of months after she was married. Her husband gave the ring back to my grandmother, who gave it to my dad to give to my mum as a wedding present. My mum gave it to me after my engagement ring was stolen. It fits nicely on my right hand along with my mum’s wedding ring. It was cleansing to let it go, but it’s better to have it back. ☺️

The warm calm water made great conditions for the swim. About 15 of us enjoyed the double lap.
Congratulations to Lucy and Brad on the new arrival,Millie.

I’m a newbie (started December, and have about 8 or so swims under my belt – I am back at work!). That was my fav blog Andrew. You captured the “feeling” of why I do it. For me, it’s always a mixture of fear, peace and euphoria (generally in that order). kierin
