Over 240 people turn up for the Saturday swim! Plus, there were 14 newbies. Such a perfect day for a swim – the water has cleared (mostly), the temperature is a comfortable 19.2, and no waves or rips to bring out the lifeguards.
This did mean that it was totally cheek to jowl under the B&B Central tree. In fact, it was so crowded that it was impossible to raise the camera until I reached the water’s edge.
Once there my attention focused on Fifi trialing a new-fangled wave entry technique. Wilf has a similar style during the winter months.
An early swimmer announced that they had seen a Dusky Whaler – perhaps the first of the season. It is not far off their breeding season when the female checks out possible sites for food, safety, and photo opportunities.
The Shelly shore was walkway to point covered with pink caps.
Birthdays were celebrated with the usual off key singing before the ritual ‘let’s go’ being given by the birthday mob.
When you see a bunch of caps clustering just off Shelly, it is usually the signal that there is something there. Today it was this magnificent ray (ok, I’ve forgotten its proper name. . .)
Heaps of gropers out and about just near the point.
And lots of tiny fish! Looks like the Aquarium will be teeming with fish this summer.
Then, just like we occupy Shelly, post swim the squad occupies the benches to bask in the warm sun while hugging mugs of coffee.
Our very favourite Dutchman, Ted always has a sunny smile.
Here are Sterling and Rob, two of the A-team. The rest of them must be taking it easy after a week of racing for the Cup.
Then there are the B&B Studs 🙂
And best of all is when you come along with your favourite Grand dad.
Have a great weekend.

Magnificent blog. I LOVE all the bright swimming costumes – beauties above complementing the beauties below the water. I was so glad to see Lyndall today at the point and also Richard completing his umpteenth lap of the balderdash. A great swim and now a blog from Mary to enjoy. Does it get much better than this
